That is the only mold-making material I've used, and I love it! The only issue I've had is the basic formula (ie not Strength 3) has NO give. My stone fences have trouble coming out of the mold. But with the strength 3, even my railroad bases are great (with the mega overhang of the tracks).

Smoothon is much better.
Do some digging on specs, to make sure you are using the kind with the properties you are interested in.
I buy from these guys sometimes, they have some decent info on what all the specs mean.

best of luck.

I use Oomoo rubber and Smooth Cast 305. Oomoo is 1:1 mix RTV and you can mess with the ratio to make it a littler softer or firmer to some degree.

Ive been using smooth on a lot. 30 bucks for X amount of oomoo, compared to 18 bucks for what I think is X amount of alumilite. Thats why i want to do the switch, one is cheaper than the other.

On the topic of smooth cast 305, I have to say, this is some of the best resin I have ever worked with - but check the specs - your use may require different parameters.

Are you really using so much that the price is important?
If you use that much, buy more Oomoo at a time and you'll see savings. The trial size still makes a decent number of molds for our hobby projects.

Uh yeah. Are you oomoo people for real? You know this is a thread about alumilite, right? You arnt just yanking my chain?
If you arnt...30 bucks for the trial size oomoo which may or may not be expired when i purchase it from the dealer here in vegas (happened twice both times the manufacturer said oh well you should have gotten online and checked the expiration date of the batch) every time i pick up the trial size it is in a different container. If it were the wide mouth thatd be cool. If it were just the narrow mouth thatd be ok. Instead ive had mixed bottles for both and every other box is different. Even the labels on the bottles themselves are different! Automatically Appended Next Post: More later time to work
