thanks for all your cooperation.
Not really wrong.
You either love Marbo or are very indifferent to him. And if you've never used him I could see why you don't really understand why some IG players like him so much. Read his fluff sometime. It's basically Rambo I-III copy pasted into 40k with words like "North Vietnamese" being replaced with "Tau", "Rambo" with "Marbo" etc. etc.

You should ask him yourself. He's right behind you...
Well, he is really 1" away. Gotta stay within the rules!
Yes, but 1" really isn't all that far in human terms...

Actually, let's do some math: a Basilisk has 15km range, which translates to 240" on the tabletop, therefore 40k weapon ranges are scaled at a 2460:1 ratio. And 2460" is 205 feet. So yes, Marbo sneaks up and tosses a demo charge on you from 205' away. Actually, considering the 6" range of his demo charge, he can throw it and kill you from a quarter mile away.

in 6th ed. all grenades from guardsmen get thrown 6". marbo should get 12" out of principle.

But the book only says he has to stay 1" away. So he can appear within 1" of any of us...
Hmm. Maybe we're related, my family are always doing that. You'll be doing whatever, then suddenly, LOOM there's a six foot beanpole with a ginger goatee standing behind you.

Yes, but Space Marines are 7-9' in height, but the model's only about 2"... so by that scale, a Basilisk can shoot about 2km, max.
There is no actual scale in 40k, and acting like there is only results in silliness.

It's not that there's no scale in 40k. It's more that there are lots of different scales in 40k.

Used to run him last edition. He was great for cracking hardpoints in defense lines. I don't know how many times he appeared in second story ruins and just simply dropped his demo charge over the ledge into a foe below him... It's awsome!

First, there is no need to apologize half the fun of this game is discussing which units are bad and which are good especially with your enemies, As for is Marbo good, of course, for 65 points he's great as a random chance which is what gives this game its special edge, myself personally have used him to wipe out an entire ork command squad. As for the him vs artillery the real question goes LRBT squad or ordnance i'd always take the LRBT and considering Marbo is an elite it makes it all the more better
Precision placed AP2 large blasts are not something IG normally has. He will rarely ever fail to make his points back in the turn he drops. Being able to negate all directional cover is also a huge plus.

I swear I think those two have a hate-crush on each other sometimes.
Of course, table-wise, Marbo=/=Rambo. Marbo will toast a marine squad or maybe a termie squad, or perhaps execute an important character. Rambo should be able to tear apart everyone on the field.

I think my favorite little thing with Marbo is using my opponent's Aegis Defense Line against them. Never fails to crack me up.

Dang... now that I see the picture, I totally remember that cartoon. Well, at least a bit of it. It didn't last more than a few months in my area, as I recall, and really wasn't very good, being a G.I. Joe knock-off.
It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Marbo is capable of tearing apart everyone on the field. However, Marbo is a generous person and usually settles for killing one unit and then leaves the battlefield so that the rest of your army can share the fun of killing the enemy.
