Subject: How crazy are non T34/85 (or 76mm sherman) tankovy lists?

The venerable T34/85 is one of the corner stones of russian late war lists, good armor and a gun that can hurt most if not all medium tanks and even scratch some heavies. However I'm curious if there is any point of running a tank company WITHOUT a single T34/85. Or is a pure vanilla t34 late war list not as versatile as their mid war counter parts since they will have to rely on other forms of anti tank weapons to take down heavy armor?

I know that lists with 20-30 Matilda's also go well on late war

T34/76s definately have a use. Aside from being cheaper they also have the fast tank and wide tracks rules (with T34/85s lack) making them more maneouverable and much faster while being just as good at running over infantry, AT 9 isn't terrible either.
Personally I think that a largish T34/76 company and a smallish T34/85 company (possible with a couple of T34/76 bullet catchers) are a good base for a Soviet Tankovy list.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.
-Leman Russ, Meditations on Imperial Command book XVI (AKA the RT era White Dwarf Commpendium).
Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Yes, you can have 30 Matilidas in LW for 1005 points. They are thourougly outclassed this late in the war but there are 30 of them....

And that's how they work! Add in some decent heavy support, but 30 odd Matilda's with top armour 2 are pretty survivable
