So the fluff talks about how Ork psychic powers work, how the red ones go faster and whatnot, but it also mentions how Yellow Rokkits are explodier. Now back in the day there were rules to support this but they were too complicated so GW just removed them entirely. Well I really like this fluff as the ork do not have much av 14 anti-tank, I think it would make sense to bring it back, albeit, simpler which I believe can be done with the new rules.

Any Ork model with a Rokkit Launcha may purchase Yellow Rokkits for X points (5-10)

A Rokkit Launcha has a weapon profile of S8 AP3 But when firing Yellow Rokkits at a vehicle (not infantry or anything that does not have an AV value) It become S9 AP1 (the AP 1 represent the rokkit having a higher chance of making the vehicle explode)


Fluff wise this would be supported i.e.

If a space marine makes a desperation missile shot at a vehicle, all the marines watching "Hope" that it will blow up the vehicle if it hits. Meanwhile, if an Ork fires a Yellow ROkkit at a vehicle, all the orks watching "Know" that it will blow up the vehicle it if hits, (therefore making the 50% chance of explosion result on a penetrating hit valid, also making the S9 valid so it gives a penetrating chance against AV 14)

What do you guys think, and how many points would you make this upgrade?

I would say just make "Yellow Rokkits" a 5 point upgrade (per rokkit) that gives it +1 on the damage table. Anything else is too expensive/situational.

Maybe +5 points and get a small blast for krak, large (I really wish there was a middle blast template but oh well) for frag?

I like this better than turning rokkits into lascannons.

i would have to say with the way ork Ballistics is and the rules for the rokkets, they are highly expensive and not desirable. 1 shot? really just 1 shot hitting on a 5. Yellow rokkits in my opinion should get the profile boost. Because we are almost never going to hit.

OT but there was but they removed it when 3rd rolled in out of the storm.
i think the templates were
Round: grenade, missile and ordnance (the large template, and the medium template but dropped the small one, when they changed rules for grenades),
Teardrop: then flame pistol, flamer and heavy flamer tear drop templates. (small medium and large teardrop templates, also hand flamer or small was dropped at release of 3rd edtition 40k)



and i think double on Yellow Rokkitz

Wargear section of the "wargear book" of 2nd edition 40k, 40k rulebook (2nd) and the reference sheet containing the x3 card board template for round and x3 for teardrop also from 2nd edition 40k)

This also reminds me heavily of 2nd edition rules on how to fire a rockit or a missile.

I like this idea a lot, although would this apply to all models or just the ones that fire either frag or krak rounds i.e. Kannonz? could you imagine 10 deffkoptas flying around shooting, basically plasma cannons that dont get hot?

Yellow rokets have the following profile:
Declare shot type before shooting:
Grot Blast: Str: 9 Ap: 2, assault 1, range 18"
Kablewly: Str: 4 Ap: 5, assault 1, small blast, range 18"

I'd go; yellow rokkits are a weapon specific to tankbustas and the tankbustas still cost 15pts each. The rokkit is S9 Ap2... so pretty much a lascannon at 24". Now people might actually consider tankbustas

The whole Tankbusta mob may take the following upgrade;

Yellow Rokkits................................... +5 points per model
The rokkit launcha and Tankhamma gain +1 on the damage table for any penetrating hits, but also gain the Gets Hot! USR


That combines the two best ideas I've seen ITT, I'd be happy to run that in my army or let someone else run it.

Possible alternatives/additions
>free "crew shaken" on penetrating hit (or glancing hit?)
>does two hull points of damage per glance
>automatic free glancing hit on to-hit roll of 6 in addition to any other effects
