I was reading up on different terrain types and came across PG. 105 in the BRB, seeing "Shrine of Chaos" - Chaos Space Marines and models with the "Daemon" special rule can re-roll failed invulnerable saves whilst they remain within 2" of a Shrine of Chaos.
So.. I was wondering, Is it permissible to bring these yourself at all? Or are these things usually something that you should talk with your gaming buds about, and ask if you can place on the board? I would really like to have one next to my Defilers XD Re-rolling those 5++ when they manage to get ILC'd would be great... But something tells me you can't just, build one, and place it without it innately having a point value. What do you guys think?
Is this something that should be randomly scattered onto the board, or should players be able to just bring one?
I've seen games in the past where players have brought custom "Tangle Wire" terrain for their models to hide behind, granting the 6+ cover save as per the BRB.. =/

I would ask your gaming buddies to see if that's a good piece of terrain to use.
However if you want to use that piece, I would not have an issue with it if you let me bring some battlefield debris.
"Each 'piece' of terrain should be a single substantial element (such as a building, forest or ruin) or a cluster of up to three smaller pieces of terrain (such as battlefield debris)" P.120

Alrighty. I'll talk with my usual gaming buds and see if perhaps we could come to some sort of consensus, perhaps as you suggested, taking something themselves as well
I can see them picking the Shield Generators

Yeah, if you want to bring a special piece of terrain that's advantageous to your army, it's only fair to let your opponent bring one as well.

When we all started playing, we came to realize that matching each other Emplacement for Emplacement became pretty mandatory.. lol
It only took 1 game for us to see that 1 Quadgun makes all the difference. I would have no problem with them bringing one more though.. XD
But

But
1) a gun emplacement does not have to be a Quad Gun.
2) the rules for battlefield debris state you can bring "a cluster of up to three smaller pieces of terrain (such as battlefield debris)" P.120
So 3 quad guns, or 3 Vulcan mega-bolters, or 3 Battle cannons or a combination of guns.

Yea, clearly my example takes it to the extreme, but It was more to point out that you guys should talk about bringing terrain beyond the normal set of terrain.
In the interest of fairness you both could take one piece of terrain with special effects.
You and your opponent would have to come to an agreement on what would have a similar impact on your opponents army as the piece you want to take for your daemons.
Re-rolling all invuln saves is really nice for daemons.
