First off, I'm a novice painter at best. My Chaos look pretty dreadful in my opinion and I'm certainly not doing them justice.
I think with some Tyranid models there is room for the odd small mistake, because colours can blend much easier and things turn out better.
Mistakes are much easier to notice on Space Marines, and I want to get some painting practice before I continue to tackle them.

Still despite that, I personally think the Termagant i've painted up to know has turned out alright. Colour scheme wise I wanted to go with a Darker, Dirtier spin on Hive Fleet Kraken's.
I was reading about how Kraken was stopped, but many spinter fleets broke off from it and are now ravaging the galaxy. I liked the idea that these are very close to the original Kraken Strand but with the obvious change in tone, looking dirtier and darker all round.

I haven't properly based the Gants yet, I'm just going through threads trying to get inspiration for the design of bases. But considering I will probably end up painting nearer 80 of these guys I'm not too bothered about the tiniest details.

I'll regularly update as I progress.

Hive Tyrant /w Wings & Two Twin Linked Devourers (They are Fleshborer Hives I bought from someone on this forum - Cheapbuster - Thanks for that!)
It is very difficult to get a decent pose from the hive tyrant with these weapons, I think. I did the best I could (considering I'd already positioned the head, a mistake, I think he'd look better glancing to his right slightly.)

I will be getting a second in the coming months, I am strongly considering magnetting that one up so weapon pose won't be an issue, and I can alternate weapons.

Images should now be displayed. Sorry about the location of the photos. I haven't got anywhere to properly take pictures of them yet.

Your's look a lot like mine. When you get to the hive tyrant, I found that a wash of the Reikland Fleshshade works well on the membranes of the wings. Nice job.

Thanks
I'll experiment with that wash on something before I try and and see how it comes out.

I've had a crack at a mycetic spore.
I decided to give this a go when I came across a pair of ceramic eggs for £2 in london, in some little craft store.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them, so i ordered a glue gun and some milliput.
Got a 2ltr bottle of pepsi max, cut it up and melted it abit.
I found an old scratched CD to act as the base.

At the moment this is more of a prototype than anything. If I had thought it would look good I would have painted the base first. But I just wanted to see how it would turn out.
But I think I might just spray the whole thing and paint around.

I envisioned a mycetic spore to have an outer shell that would absorb the impact of landing into space, but properly shatter open, leaving the egg inside intact.

I think the strands of glue look good personally, but logically too thin and could easily break. And yes, it's a mess at the moment, but i guess it's supposed to be? *shrug*

Anyway, can i get some opinions?

I like the glue effect. You could find some sculptey and use that to create the outside shell. It's oven bake clay, so you could make that first, then add the insides and glue you've already experimented with.

Paint it, looks good!

Thanks. I'm waiting for better weather before I can spray it. Bloody snow won't stop.

In the mean time i'm going paint 10 more Termagants I already sprayed.

That really cool, I remeber the apocalypse book having rules which give fexes a cover save after they drop from the fleshy remains of the pod, so I think the glue looks really good.

Hey thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.

I like it I would put more glue on and around it tho so it looks like alien slime spilling out everywhere to maybe give the effect of an embryo sack spilling everywhere when the outer shell broke ?

The dried glue could use some color. Not sure if it would look okay painted...maybe some dyes applied while the glue is still drying?

When you paint it you might wanna give it a gloss varnish on after not only will it keep the paint together (I might peel off of the smooth bottle) it will give it that slimy look.

Think it dries too quickly. I use normal artist grade ink on glue to give colour but keep it translucent

It's my codex and I'll cry If I want to.

Tactical objectives are fantastic

I agree Nem, it does dry too quickly.

I'll try some ink and see what I can do. Thanks.

That could work really well. Lots of potential.
