Since I've recently been swayed to include TWC in a list, I was wondering if anyone can clarify how their attacks work, and how many you get.

The way I understand is they have a base 4 attacks, +1 from the mount. 5 attacks, or 6 on the charge or if charged correct? Which of those are rending? If one uses a special CCW, do ALL attacks use the weapon's profile, or do you roll separately for the special weapon while the others still get rending? I would imagine all attacks lose rending and follow the statline for the special weapon.

I've seen HoW mentioned as well but can't find where they would get it in the Codex or FAQ.

the book says that the +1 A is in there profile so 4 atacks +1 assault +1 pistol so 6 and don't forget (I always forget it) hammer of wraith

"Listen closely Brothers, for my life's breath is all but spent. There shall come a time far from now when our Chapter itself is dying, even as I am now dying, and our foes shall gather to destroy us. Then my children, I shall listen for your call in whatever realm of death holds me, and come I shall, no matter what the laws of life and death forbid. At the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolftime."Leman Russ

Where does it list HoW? If equipped with a SS, they only get 5 attacks right?

So, really, with HoW, they can have up to 7 attacks. If a special CCW isn't used, 5 of those (if assaulting) would be rending correct?

All Cavalry have Fleet and Hammer of Wrath default for being Cavalry (I presume TWC are cavalry?). Page 48 BRB.

All attacks apart from HoW will be with the same profile (if it gives rending or whatever then yeah). Page 51 BRB, "More than one weapon".

Not completely true. The underlined is wrong. Hammer of wrath does not get the extra bonuses such as poison or rending.

Ah, that's where it is thanks. I neglected the cavalry entry. Thanks for sorting this all out for me!

Badly phrased, my apologies. HoW uses the model's unmodified strength and an AP of -. All other attacks use the same profile (including the TWC Rending rule), you don't use the pistol stats for the extra attack gained from 2 CCW's.

Sorry my bad, i misread what you wrote.

Additionally you don't get rending if you take a power weapon, fist, hammer or frost weapon.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

I'd been wondering about that, didn't know, cheers.

So, the FAQ states that the Thunderwolf mount modifies the base line stats. It makes sense the stat line given for the TWC would already incorporate the changes.

However, if a Wolf Lord takes a mount, wouldn't that make him S5, T5, and give him 5 base attacks? Crazy!

Base 5, +1 charge, +1 two ccw. Can hit on a 3+, re-rolls if you take the right weapons and if you cast prescience he's just laughably good.

That's insane. I didn't think much of giving him a Wolf Claw. Mine will have TH for fluff probably, but man...

Yup, Thunderwolf Lords are ridiculously good. However they can eat up points like no-body's business. I still like to include at least one tooled-up Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf in most games though

Now if only they'd FAQ it so we could put rune priests on TWs and include them in the unit.......
