When a tau crisis suit has an Advanced Stabilization System giving it the "slow and purposeful" special rule does it confer that rule to the unit it is in regardless of whether that unit is slow and purposeful as well?

Special rules generally fall into one of two categories:

"A unit that contains at least one model with..."

Or;

"A model with..."

The first confers the special rule to the whole unit, the second does not. Off the top of my head I can't remember which one S&P is...

S&P is on page 42. The first sentence of that rule answers the question.

Careful though. Counter-attack is an exception. There is also the "A unit that consists entirely of models with..."

Looks like a "If a unit contains at least one model..." to me, and can't spot it in the FAQ.
But in any case, I was sure there were rules saying "A unit that consists entirely of models with...", which is why I used the word "generally".
{edit} - Deep Strike requires all models in the unit to have the rule :-)

It starts off with the "If a unit contains at least one model..."but then there is a bit of a switch.

Ah! Quite right, I'd only been skimming the first lines. Thanks for pointing it out!

Why would you ever want to put A.S.S on a Crisis suit? They already are relentless you would gimp the suit for no benefit. I am assuming then that you mean Broadside suits.

Thank you for everyone's input, And yes, I too glanced over that first line and now realize that as long as one model is slow and purposeful, the entire unit is.

I Have a crisis suit and firewarrior squad hanging around from a few years back when i wanted to get a tau army but couldn't.

Now I just wanted to try the whole allies bit, and change up the game from my standard set up.

I want to put a crisis suit with missile pods and an Advanced Stabilization System in a Devastator Squad. I wanted to be able to drop pod them into enemy lines, but it looks like if I still want to do this kind of tom-foolery, It must be done from my own starting point.

But the new codex is out in just a few days anyway. Kind of a strange time to be thinking of Tau ally combos.

Not really because it is always fun to be thinking of new and silly ways to play.
