I want to strip my ill-painted first Orks, since they don't really fit into my paint scheme. I can't get simple green or other regular paint strippers locally, and I always have bad luck ordering stuff online (it never gets here the date I want it to! ), so I was wondering if Pine-sol was good for plastic and metal minis. I saw one video, but I'm still not sure. What else can I use to strip them, if not pine-sol?

Pine-sol works - though some people have reported problems with it on plastics if you leave it sit for extended periods of time.

Normally you go through and soak in the pine sol for an hour or so and then scrub and rinse with a tooth brush. Repeat till the paint is gone.

I myself prefer sodium/potassium hydroxide based strippers like Easy Off oven cleaner or Super Clean. Both are commonly available from hardware stores and grocery stores.

For plastics - no. For metals - yes. Straight undiluted pinesol (the original flavor, yellowish) is best. The scented ones tend to not work as well.

And I'll beat Kingcracker's horn before he gets here. For plastics, this works really well:

Finally, the only other I've used on plastics is what is called "Purple Power" degreaser. Available in automotive parts stores in a purple bottle.

I know about LA's totally Awesome, I just can't find it locally (I'm in NY, and I can't find it. Blasphemy!) I also said I can't get other paint strippers locally, so yeah.

EDIT: Here's a funny question: what about Tilex? I can tell it'll turn my plastics into the Thing, but what about an old warboss?

I've used Pine-Sol to strip plastics before. Granted, they were the old 4th edition High Elves from the starter set, but they came through even extended (as in 48 hours +) soaks just fine. The only lasting effect was a slight discoloration of the plastic (big deal, I was painting over it anyway) and a lingering hint of pine scent until they were varnished.

I like the smell of pines, it'll make my green guys a bit more.. green.

I've found super clean in Walmart, ace, Home Depot, and so on. I've used it for both plastics, metals, and resins, I would not trust pine sol.
