Subject: New "War of the worlds/Ailen" army to Dystopian Wars... Would it be compatible with tournaments?
Ok so this is meant to be a new army not related to the main DW timeline of the game but there are rules for them, my question is would TO's let these guys run across their boards in a tournament or simply ban them? I am new to DW so I wouldn't know just yet what is exactly OP in this game, so would these be able to compete in a tourney or not?
Also what are you thoughts and opinion's on these models and rules? to me I love the classic War of the Worlds tripods that you see on the cover of the musical album so I would welcome these minis into my house with open arms
Also here is some music for the feels of this army :
Cheers to all comments.

Although they are not part of the core timeline of the Dystopian world, they offer you a chance to create a wonderful new facet of Victorian super science fiction.

The invaders aren't new, they were available since last year through Studio Sparta (SG's version of forgeworld). Hell SG even did a short world wide scenario thing for them.
Also remember theres very little "Tournament scene" with DW. SG don't actively support much in that regard, and even the rules aren't suited to tournament play anyway. It's too casual for that.
As for OP and balance, they aren't bad. They can only get 1 large per 1k points if i recall correctly (bad for them if that the objective), and they're one of if not the worse boarding faction (unable to even start the boarding themselves so no prizing ships for them). Their ships are also pricey on points, which when your getting 3 frigates for the cost of a full squadron and a half of any other factions, and they have their own Crit table which is actually a lot harsher than the normal one (creating corrosive markers for instance).
Beyond that, the weapons. Remember there are restrictions in place for the deathrays, and the "heavy energy guns" are still just that, E-guns. There's a reason CoA players rarely use the things.
Anyway I that said, the deathrays are insane, and the shields seem like a good deal. However ask around on the SG forums sometime, especially Naz and his several thousand points worth, they aren't the "space wolf/necron/GK autowin button" Of DW. They're closest in play to (I would say) the Prussians. Very hard to get right, but if you do they're formidable as all hell.

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!
Ok thanks I just saw these and I love the War of the Worlds so I think after my KoB are finished I will get myself a small force...
Also on a side note with tournaments I can understand if they are small-scale but from what I have read in the general rules they seem to be clear and tight (when I say tight I mean that there is no confusion of misreads over them, like I see in 40k and I see not many arguments with the rules on DW) so while they maybe casual you can still use them for the tournament scene imo, just make some house rules or secret secondary objectives to add a tad more flavour to your game and it could make a really good tournament game as everything is balanced anyway's...
Also is there a scenario pack that's downloadable for these guys?

The scenario is back on the Spartan blog a bit of a ways, its only one match that they used for the world wide thing, but there was some talk and rumour of more one offs.

On a side note how do a create an account on the SG Forums, Im trying to but it keeps telling me that they are not accepting new registrations while they work on necessary system maintenance and upgrades, so I was wondering but how long do I have to wait till I can join the SG Forums?
