This looks pretty interesting, seems to be an MMO style first person shooter, with no monthly (but it will apparently have at least five DLC packs, given the details on its "season pass"). Anyone heard much about it and its gameplay details?

I know it's a tie in game for a SyFy series that is gonna premiere in April. I will admit, that that alone has kind of shied my off from really looking into the game. Some friends though have been getting in on a lot of buzz about it. It's from Trion the same company behind Rift, and Rift wasn't bad.

My buddy is playing the beta currently, and really likes it.

I'm definitely thinking about the XBOX 360 version, which only needs a Gold member ship to play, once you buy the game, which isn't bad if it's a good MMO. High Monthly fees and System Requirements are something I hate about PC MMO's, and console's essentially remove all that.

I like this Youtube video, it's an hour of gameplay straight from character creation onwards, with commentary from the designer.

You think a Core 2 Duo and an Nvidia 8000 series card are high system requirements? You can get both like $110.

You think that's high? Dark Souls had a 3.0ghz dual core requirement. It's why I haven't gotten it yet. To me, at least, a 2.0ghz dual core is somewhat modest for a modern game.

I mostly meant "high" in conjunction with monthly fees, but yes, $110 is a lot when you have other things in life eating up your money, like $60 a week in gas to get to work.

See, I don't like to even have to worry about system requirements at all. That's why I am interested in how this game plays on consoles, because there all you have to do is buy the game to play it- no secondary requirements to worry about other than hard-drive space, which they say won't be as much as players might expect . Well, other than a headset and a keyboard, anyway.

That $110 will last you YEARS, and improve your general computer-use experience outside of gaming. Compare this to paying 60 dollars for an xbox keyboard and 50 dollars on a headset, which probably won't last as long.

Hell, given that PC games cost less to buy than console games as a general rule, that more than makes up for the supposedly high cost of PC parts. I can understand not wanting to care about system requirements at all though. It can be bothersome at times.

I played it for a bit on the last beta weekend. It was okay - and it's third not first person btw.

That said, it didn't grab me, particularly. I liked driving around on a four wheeler with a rocket booster, and there was some of the Rift style zone events that were kinda fun. All in all, I'll probably pass in favor of waiting for Wildstar.

Even on PC you don't. The Core 2 series processors and GeFroce 8 cards were released in 2007. PC hardware generally lasts for as long as a console's lifespan, especially now that most games are developed consoles first, PC's second. If you'd bought a 9800 in 2008 when those were released you'd still be able to play pretty much every major game release of the last six years. On low settings sure, but you can still play them (and shocker, the low setting's look about the same as a console's).
