I recently was banned from www.advancedtautactica.com and i was absolutley shocked. They moderators are absolutley mad with power and will ban anyone who doesn't measure up to their standards. They banned my ip address and I'm in the process of talking to the websites owner about getting unbanned. They have insulted me when i did hardly anything. They made fun of my grammar ( I mean it's the fething internet,GRAMMAR NOT REQUIRED!) Is their anyone from tau tacita on this website? I feel really depressed about this.

ANYWAY I'm new here. I'm a Tau player and I live in Australia. I'm fine to get along with but please dont insult me :(

Do not insult anyone at any time. If you accidently do so, apologize immediately and profusely. Refrain from commenting on that which you do not know or understand. The primary function of DakkaDakka is to provide a forum for the pleasant discussion of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 in addition to other wargames. If at anytime you become angered or frustrated by another's post and desire to deliver a scathing response, stop, log off, and walk away from the computer. There is no reason to ever engage in virtual insults.

As long as you are polite and friendly you will have no issues with moderation. Rudeness and insults are not tolerated. Enjoy your stay.

Don't worry too much about it 93green. If you struggle with spelling try to use a browser with an inbuilt spellchecker like chrome.

I can't see you getting booted for misspelling a few things and not being the best at english grammar. Not from here anyway. Just try your best.

The day you do get booted for that, my opinion of this site goes down end of.

Just a cursory glance at your account over on ATT, you put in your member profile that one of the site's moderators was mean and "riding you like a krootox". Perhaps remembering Rule 1 on Dakka about being polite will help keep you around here longer

however that said you cannot hope to please everyone at the same time. someone will always like or dislike based on whatever was going through their heads at that time.

but if someone does insult you then take it with a grain of salt and you'll be fine. also if they are being excessively rude/offensive regardless of your actions then by all means let a MOD know about it

Hello Dakka Dakka community. I usually don't post here, I just lurk occasionally, but this thread in particular actually was off-putting enough that I bothered to create an account. (Who knows, maybe I'll post again in the future).
Let me begin with a disclaimer that I do not wish to turn this into any kind of a flame war, and as such I will not post in this thread again. I do not wish to breed any discontent or drive this thread off of its original course and if arguments should arise, my continued replies would only fuel the fire.

My opening statement shall be that I am among the moderators of the AdvancedTauTactica.com that is in question at the forefront of this particular thread. Normally I would let this go, but since the original poster has taken it upon himself/herself to begin not one, but two threads intended to spread libel concerning our fair community I thought it only fitting that I share some truths behind the discontented user that began this thread; namely 93Green.

93Green joined our community on March 11th, 2013 and immediately began violating the rules upon which ATT is founded. It is required that all members read and understand our Membership Primers that outline what is expected of every member. They are straightforward and a short read. The primary gist of which can be summed into "Be respectful", "Post with substance or not at all", "Be family appropriate", and "Use proper grammar when posting". 93Green made it readily apparent in their First post that they had not read or understood the membership primers. The post in question did not give useful, constructive comments to the thread, and simply displayed a misplaced sense of fairness commonly known as "cheating". This fell short of the "Post with substance or not at all" primer as well as the "use proper grammar" primer. This post was met with a polite, but stern response from one of the moderating staff as a warning for 93Green to improve their posting habits.

The second strike happened when the user in question disregarded this moderator request with their second post which contained nothing but an emoticon, something that is specifically prohibited by the membership primers that it was apparent that the user still had not read. This was again met with a moderator request to improve posting habits or suffer the consequences.
It was readily apparent that 93Green was deliberately disobeying moderator requests to improve his habits to conform to the standards set forth by Advanced Tau Tactica when the third strike came around. The user was also flooding the boards with useless posts such as "i wish i had a pet kroot". It was then the unanimous decision (which is not taken lightly mind you) of the entire moderation and administration staff of Advanced Tau Tactica that this user was actively refusing to abide by the rules and thus must suffer the punishment of a ban.

In short, to answer the OP's accusations: We are not power hungry, or mad with power. We take our positions seriously and expect our members to take theirs seriously as well. As displayed in cited examples, this was not the case for 93Green. We are also not inherently mean or insulting. Not once was the OP insulted as they claim to have been, nor was any individual response "mean" They were polite requests that were met with deliberate disobedience and thus deserved further action. Many of the members here at Dakka Dakka are also successful members of Advanced Tau Tactica. We are not perfectionists, but we have a set of easy-to-abide-by rules that every member must follow. Failure or active refusal to abide by these guidelines results in punishment.

@ 93Green, we do not hate you, and actually hope you will enjoy your time here at Dakka Dakka. Taking the time to understand the rules before simply posting is the difference between a successful membership and a banned one.

To reiterate my disclaimer, I will continue to read the responses to this thread but as no further evidence is necessary I will not post in this thread again as it would only fuel a flame war.

Thank you for shedding more light on the topic. I understand you won't reply, but still I know you will be reading.

The way I see it when someone is banned or removed from a forum or website, it likely feels like a personal smack in the face by the Moderators. The user clearly didn't understand the rules and as such was rightfully ejected from the website. I only hope that he was given an explanation for his banning (like the explanation you have taken the time to publish here) via an e-mail or some other form of communication, because if not, I'm quite sure (with his lack of understanding of the rules and forum etiquette in mind) that he didn't understand why he was kicked.

Perhaps this would be too time consuming, but I think an indepth explanation as to why someone is banned, to said person, would go a long way to preventing posts like this.

The examples provided seemed to be less about someone trying to break the rules intentionally, and more a misguided person trying to have a bit of the laugh without full understanding of the rules. If you DO want to reply to me, but not here, feel free to PM me.

Anyway, there's my two pence, I hope everything works out.
