The Puppet's War Big Momma Cannon piece got me thinking...

http://puppetswar.com/product.php?id_product=62

Space Marine Eradicator - 205 points

The Vindicator is an exceptionally rare siege tank based on the Rhino chassis used by many Space Marine Chapters. Rare even in the days of the Horus Heresy, the Eradicator was an attempt to mount titan-based weaponry onto a Rhino chassis. Though short-ranged, the Vindicator's Eradicator Cannon is capable of destroying enemy armor, fortifications and even Titans in a single, well-placed shot.

A Space Marine, Chaos Space Marine, or a Horus Heresy Space Marine army may take an Eradicator. It is a Heavy Support choice.

Eradicator Cannon
Used in the earliest days of the Horus Heresy, Eradicator Cannons are a massive armament that proved to be too powerful and too unstable for normal warfare. Really a Titan-based siege weapon fitted to a vehicle, these massive siege weapons proved to be too massive to be fitted to a tank-based platform. Only a few were used in the Horus Heresy to breach the walls of the Emperor's Palace, and very few survive to modern day.

Range: 24" Str 10 AP 1, Ordnance, Large Blast Template

Special:
The Eradicator cannon gains +1 to its roll to wound. A roll of 1 does not automatically fail, it becomes a 2. This means only the largest and toughest creatures, vehicles, and buildings can hope to survive being hit by the Eradicator Cannon.

OPTIONS
Space Marine and Chaos Eradicators may take items from their respective Equipment List.

The Eradicator can be equipped with a Siege Prow at a cost of +20 Points

Siege Prow - 20 points
A Siege Prow is a massive piece of armor fitted to a siege vehicles front side. As its name implies, its shaped like a prow, and it is so large and sturdy it offers a measure of protection to the vehicle it is attached to. A Siege Prow functions exactly like a Siege Shield, and also gives the Eradicator +1 Armor Value bonus to its Front Armor.

I'm thinking about giving it a "Titan-killer" ability, for an additional points cost, like in the old days of the VDR. Maybe the ability to strip D3 Hull Points for every successful score, something like that...

These rules seem balanced and I'd be fine playing against them. If anything they seem a little weak relative to the Vindicator or Leman Russ Demolisher, but that's probably the way to go when making custom stuff. Good job!

Auto wound! Ap2 hahaha... 205pts...hahahha, oh your serious?

Lets see, vindicator 130, auto wound, so basically a mini destroyer type weapon... 300pts for that, so your tank is 430

Looking at your model (which looks nicely done by the way), add a special rule to the unit :
- f*****g big shells : due to the size of the shells used by the vehicle and the time it takes to reload it (having to open the rear hatch, using a crane to move the several-tonnes heavy shell ...), you can only shoot this weapon once per battle

There, issue solved !

Are you guys joking? The normal Vindicator is probably better than this unit. These rules are totally fine.

I think it's fairly balanced as it is, but I don't like the wounds on 1 rule. It goes counter to the whole "there's always a chance" philosophy that runs through the game. That's not really a balance concern though

Eradicator cannons and tanks already exist in Imperial armies. They are not crewed by space marines.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

So, let's look at it this way:

For 225 points, we have a AV14 model that will instantly wound anything T8 or lower, with an AP value of 1. Somehow this turns into being worse than a Vindicator? I feel like I'm missing something here.

In what way is the normal Vindicator better? The Demolisher Cannon doesn't Autowound!

It's not my model, it's painted by someone else. Found out they made a datafax for their, where their version can only shoot every other turn.

Great minds think alike.

The normal Vindicator costs almost half as much, is close to the same against many targets, and comes with a Storm Bolter, which can potentially mitigate Weapon Destroyed results.

Seems to me that it should be more targeted at buildings/vehicles. The wound thing makes it seem a bit more oriented to infantry to me. Maybe rather than ordnance just make it like the medusa with 2d6 pen? Also I'd think it would make a mockery of cover, so maybe add something like resolve blast from the template centre kinda like barrage weapons. I think to make it ignore cover altogether would make it unbalanced so at least people in area terrain still benefit.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined
