Hacking Proxy Mk.1

Hi
My FLGS has been considering stocking Corvus Belli so I thought I'd take a good long look at Infinity.
I've had a loom at all those videos in the beginners sticky and decided I like ALEPH, making a list has been a little bit of a problem though and I have some questions.
1. Am I right in assuming I need a lieutenant or similar model to lead my army/gang/warband/whatever you call them?
2. ALEPH seem to be your small elite army but 'small' in the context of a game this scale doesn't mean much to me, if I show up with 4 models to a 200 point game am I going to be outnumbered or am I going to be outnumbered 4:1?
3. do I need some sort of core/troop/line infantry minimum or can I go ahead and make an entire army out of Daysus, Asuras and Garudas?

I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Outnumbered in Infinity doesn't mean the same thing as in most games.
It means that if they bring 10, you're probably bringing 8 combatants. But your guys are on average, going to be better. Though, their elites are probably a little more cost effective than your elites. Your basic guys are better though.

So would a 200 point army with a Daysu lieutenant, another with a sniper, an Asuras with a spitfire and 3 combi rifle Dakiki tacbots (one with a light grenade launcher) make a good/balanced/not sucky force?

If you want Dakini Tacbots you're going to need a hacker or TAG to gain access to them, as they are remotes. I'm very new to this game and started with the ALEPH starter box and a naga sniper, but thoroughly enjoying it

Oh, ok so if my hacker dies/gets out of range will my tacbots just shut down?

No, the hacker just allows access to the remotes, once in game if the hacker is killed the remotes carry on as normal. For those with more experience feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Alright, what about a Dasyu lieutenant, Asura with spitfire, two Deva's with combi rifles, and a Naga with a sniper?

Basically, you want to have around 8 orders at the 200 points range and minimum 10 at 300 points.
The way you can achieve this with Aleph is simple - get Netrods and cheap bots/cheerleaders like Thorekitai or Daikini and spend the remaining points on your heavy hitters.
5 models at 200 points is too few.
Dasyus LT costs 2 SWC that could be spent elsewhere on HMGs for example.
Aleph | 10 models
________________________________________________________
 Dasyu Hacker (46|0.5)
 Dakini Tacbot Combi (13|0)
 Dakini Tacbot Paramedic (17|0)
 Dakini Tacbot HMG (22|1)
 Netrod (4|0)
 Netrod (4|0)
 Netrod (4|0)
 Naga Sniper (39|1.5)
 Deva Lieutenant (26|0)
 Devabot
 Deva Combi (23|0)

Mind you, this is not an awesome list, just something I put up in a couple minutes. It has the cheaper options you wanted and a lot more orders. Tell us the models you really want to include and we can work around that. I kicked the Asura out because its too expensive at this point level.

Daysu lieutenant is a bit questionable because his biggest asset is the fact that he has Thermo-optic Camouflage which means he can deploy on the board without your opponent even knowing about it.
However, making him your lieutenant means you'll start the game in the "loss of lieutenant" state because your lieutenant isn't on the board and visible. You can circumvent this by starting your Daysu revealed, but that ruins the point of taking a Daysu in the first place.
If you're taking two Devas wth Combi, consider taking two Devas with Devabots and make one of them your Lt.
This is basically the list you're looking at:
Aleph | 5 models
________________________________________________________
 Deva Lieutenant (26|0)
 Devabot
 Deva Devabot (27|0)
 Devabot
 Naga Sniper (39|1.5)
 Asura Spitfire (72|2)
 Dasyu Combi (35|0)

It's really starved for points, but basically the units you're looking for. At least in your first games, consider dropping the expensive models like the Asura for more models and more orders. Netrods work best for this.

That's probably actually the way I should have gone about it to begin with.
I love the crouching Dayus with the combi rifle, he has to be in there somehow.
The Mrymidons and Ajax the great are pretty cool but I get the impression they want to get right up in their enemies face, not a playstyle I would prefer.
I like the Asuras with the spitfire and I like that they seem to be absolutely brutal compared to your average joe, so I'd want one of them in there.
Ekdromoi look pretty cool but I haven't found rules for them.
The Garuda and the Naga hacker are cool but it seems like it's the kinda list that has to revolve around them since they are a lot of points.
Devas aren't bad, seems pretty good for (relativity) cheap line troops.

To answer your original questions.
1) You must have one and only one Lt model. you never disclose who your Lt is and if it dies you will start your next turn in Loss of Lt status.
2) As others have said, you want to shoot for at least 8 regular order models. You'll quickly see why if you play anything less then that as you feel the tactical handicap. Aleph use to be elite small number but the latest book fleshed them out quite well. You can find the rules for the new models here: http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/downloads/army-lists/[en]ArmiesCP.pdf
3) You can take up to the AVA of any unit type you want in any config you want as long as it doesn't exceed the # of points, 1 SWC per 50pts, has an Lt, and if you take REM have a hacker or TAG.
Based on what I perceived your play style as I'd go with the following...
Aleph | 9 models
________________________________________________________
 Asura Spitfire (72|2)
 Deva Lieutenant (26|0)
 Devabot
 Dasyu Combi (35|0)
 Thorakites smg (13|0)
 Thorakites combi (16|0)
 Thorakites LRL (25|1)
 Netrod (4|0)
 Netrod (4|0)
 Netrod (4|0)

The issue of course will be that the Asura takes up a PILE of your points at 200pts, but the netrods will help counter balance that.

Netrods Combat Jump in (deepstrike) during your deployment. They are nothing more then a piece of equipment that while still on the board grants you an order. So those three 3 land on the fields when you deploy and you get +1 regualr order for each at 4pts per. They can't help in the killing, but they get you back up to a stable amount of orders.

It helps a lot at lower point cost games. Just remember though that they are defenseless pieces of equipment so place them well hidden or they will die easily.

Definitely wouldn't recommend buying just the sophotech solo since the box is a much better player tool for the price.
