I recently ordered a commission done by the nice folks over at Golem Painting Studios to have some Grey Knights painted up. I asked them to do dark and not flashy. They did a pretty awesome job and I love seeing them on the tabletop, so I thought I would share.

I don't take great pictures of my minis, so there are the test photos they sent me to approve. In some cases there are some minor paint mishaps that were corrected. Also, I am one of those weirdos that doesn't like gun barrels drilled out.

Here we go:

Some Strike Squad/Interceptor members:

And some more:

Paladins (or Terminators if you want to be picky):

Solodin:

Techmarine:

Servo Skulls:

Dreadnaughts:

Dread Knights (that have magnets to swap out weapons):

Vindicare Assassin:

Librarian:

Coteaz:

Draigo:

Everything looks good, but I see a bit of blue on the skeletons on the base. Might want to touch that up especially if this is commision. I don't know how I feel about the bases either. Just personal taste for me.

they look unfinished to me, like hardly any of the details picked out, minimal color changes.

for a fast table top job they are decent

Yes, this was one of the touch ups I brought up to the guys at Golem and they fixed it before it was shipped to me.

I requested that they be minimally finished, I wanted dark and simple. The only real "flair" I really wanted was the helmets.

Pretty impressive, I loved the dark silver on the grey knights, I've used it on mine as well, the bases are awesome, Can you give me any tips for the blood?

OK, this place is getting scary when pieces with NMM are considered a "fast table top" job

the only NMM parts are the swords... the rest use metallic paints plain as day... I'd say 30 min-1 hour a model

Oh ... *thinks about his Destroyer he completed yesterday that took him a few hours and it doesn't have any advanced stuff* ... Okay

On topic: I didn't even comment about the models! The dark grey looks really good contrasting with the red and white. Those helms looks pretty unique. Oh, and those are some pretty gruesome bases. Is it part of the fluff for your army?
(And that Assassin, it's an infinity model, right?)

I suspect some type of water effects mixed with a dark red. I was originally going to paint this army myself, but I wasn't sure how I was going to do it. Paying someone seemed easier.

I haven't gotten around to asking what paint they used, but I know it is applied with an airbrush. I am guessing it's not GW.

Even if I had access to an airbrush, I think I would still be looking at 6 hours a model for me. I am sloooooow.

No fluff, I just figured they would look like they were fighting on a world that had a little run in with Kharn.

I like the simple color scheme and overall look. With this kind of army, too many colors and details can detract from the impression - Grey Knights seem better off simple and menacing than ornate. The bases are too over-the-top for my taste, though, especially given the austerity of the models. But I do like how they pick up the red in the figs. The only fig I don't really care for is Coteaz... kind of a reddish-bronze blur. But overall, the army should look fabulous on the table. Have fun with it.

Don't let Mat Ward get close to those models. That'll all be Sisters of Battle blood in no time!

Nice models though. Just the helmet gives the whole army a very unique look.

Very simple paint work, but really effective! And I love the bases, really brings it all together
