cool, I went white/blue for the pre-release, then switched out the blue, mid-tournament for the red stuff in my sealed pool, but I got sunk, cuz white completely gave me crap for my sealed pool.....

I just recently made a black/red goblin animator commander deck.

Hmmm...... I was just curious, if a commander deck with Phenax would work well..... it would of course be a mill deck, and it would have many creatures with high toughness, and mill abilities, but also some creatures would be mainly for diversionary things, and attacking, etc, and i will definitely incorporate the traumatize with haunting echoes combo, and also many cipher abilities, and other things.

Mill isn't very good in EDH, everyone and their grandmother runs Eldrazi...

Which is where Fated Return comes into play. You mill their Eldrazi into the graveyard and then reanimate it before it has a chance of screwing up.

Or anything that exiles graveyeards. Nightveil Specter works too, although it's a tad slow in EDH.

Very true, but not EVERYONE plays eldrazi....... so it could work..... since many of the creatures I will use all have mill abilities, and will work together quite well.

Everyone runs some kind of Graveyard recursion, hell, there's even a nice, searchable one at 1 mana and it's an artifact for christs sake... You'd have to mill their entire deck in one turn then make them draw it. A better deck would be something that makes infinite mana, and runs Prosperity.

Yeah, that combo is fun, but the combo with traumatize and haunting echoes is also very fun!

For Commander, 'Tunnel Vision' combos with anything that puts a card at the bottom of your opponents library to completely mill them out. Spell Crumple is a favourite as you would normally use that in a deck to get rid of people's commanders anyway. White has Condemn, but there are many others.

Mill in Commander is actually about one of the worst things you can do, short of "Power Mill".

-Bruna, Light of Alabaster decks can pull her powerful enchantments out of the graveyard, so she will thank you for helping her pull them out faster.
-Any Black/Green has BUTT TONS of graveyard recursion, so you really just speed them up instead of slowing them down.
-Flashback is not slowed down by mill.
-Eldrazi stop any sort of mill from meaning anything

So on, so forth. About the only effective commander to mill with is Oona, and that's because she exiles.

A resounding "Meh".

What few good EDH cards there were I got at the prerelease. Other than that, Inspired seems like a weak mechanic for Standard, Tribute is negligable for 1v1, and Heroic is as it always was; not reliable enough to count on.

Newbie to MtG here.

A friend of mine gave me a couple decks and a hunk of cards and the wife and I have been playing nearly every evening for a few weeks now.

I'm enjoying building different kinds of decks, though nothing I've come up with comes close to my friend's well-crafted decks. What I want to know is whether there is a site where you can enter the cards that you have and it will suggest possible deck builds.

Go to www.mtgvault.com, it is a great site to get advice on, and it will surely help you. If you dont want to spend much money on decks, you should check out the budget decks section, and also the budget decks that are made by northernwarlord, (thats his username), and he will surely have something you like, or you can ask me, or anyon else on this site also! How does regenerate work?

Can I regen attacking creatures without vigilance?

Can I regen same creature multible times?

Yes and yes. I the creature would be destroyed, it's not and it's tapped. That's pretty much what it does. Does not save it from sacrificing though, or if the destroy spell has "does not regenerate".

I use a Black / Blue Zombie mill deck

GrimGrin, Corpse born is a great commander IMO. Some people find him too unreliable tho.

Does anyone else get the feeling that the next Block is going to be Wedge Colors?

- Wizards have stated they want to slow down Standard. What better way of slowing it down than forcing people into Tri-color?
-Every Green mana ramper in Theros, save Acolyte of Karametra, either turns your basic lands into all basic land types or simple adds one of any color. Also, Voyaging Satyr/Kiora's Follower untap any land (Or permanent), not just Forests. Almost no support for only its own color.
- Wedgies would be totally awesome.

For those of you who don't know what the Wedges are called, it's

Raka (R/WU (AMERICA!))
Ceta (U/GR)
Necra (B/WG)
Ana (G/UB)

What do you guys think the Wedges should even do? It won't be totally obvious, as who would have guessed Esper would be artifacts :/

Just randomly stopping by to mention that my entire experience of this game was one draft tournament with a "wingman" helping me out. I found a snapcaster mage in the first booster pack I ever opened. At that point I decided to quit while I was ahead and back out of the hobby because I'd burned any luck I might have awaiting for me down that road.

Always wanted to play blue/black Phyrexia infect/control though (I love Phyrexia, and I loved using manna in my opponent's turn). Or actually win with Door to Nothingness.

Haven't kept up too much with Born of the Gods, another collectible game got in the way, and so I haven't had the chance to peruse the new releases, but any good/decent mono-white Heroic or Bestow cards out there? I'd like to update my Heroic deck if possible.

There is a new Double Strike Eidolon that is pretty decent (If costly), and the new Glimpse of Heliod is about as good as it gets for Heroic triggers.

So if my opponent attacks me and I block with drudge skeletons.
I regenerate so skeletons won't die (at this point skeletons are tapped)
Opponent uses lighting bolt
I regenerate again

?
