This came up during a game. My Harpies are all modeled slightly different but all standing on tails. It puts them about 1 inch to an inch and half of each others heights. He wants a 1 standard height to measure all shots from them. What height is that?
He also said my Spore pods need to have Death spitters on them if I equip them with them. I said it shouldn't matter MCs target from the model not the barrel like vehicles. What does Dakka Dakka think?

Technically you *should* have Deathspitters for WYSIWYG purposes (which shouldn't be too hard), but if you let your opponent know beforehand then it should be a big deal.
As for the Harpies... whatever. They don't have an official model, so as long as you're not MFA then it shouldn't be a problem. Same with the Pods actually.

I agree with Andilus.
There are certainly groups of models that GW sells that have differing heights for the same type of model. Take the Ravener Brood for example. Granted the difference isn't a whole lot, but there is a difference between the heights of the 3 models that come in the box. Certainly enough that LoS would be impacted.
About the pods: I agree you *should* have Deathspitters on them.
However there is no model available to buy for either. So you have to proxy. Which to me says that you can use whatever you want, including a can of coke if nothing else is available.

I will take the time to magnetise weapon options for my Mycetic Spores when GW make the time to make the damn model, until there's an actual model anything goes, from actual third party models to empty coke cans with straws sticking out of them.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

I agree with Nos, but there is also the WYSIWYG issue your opponent brought up. If you clarify before the game what is on the model, then you will usually be okay, but technically, if it isn't WYSIWYG, then your opponent has a leg to stand on...

You mean the WYSIWYG rule which is only present in 2 or 3 codices? Or the WYSIWYG player convention?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Happyjew wrote: You mean the WYSIWYG rule which is only present in 2 or 3 codices? Or the WYSIWYG player convention? Convention or requirement for tourney? Don't really know which this was... In a friendly game it usually doesn't matter so long as you clarify ahead of time (unless the opponent is TFG). If it was a tourney game then a great many (maybe most?) require WYSIWYG... I was assuming he was talking about some tourney/formal game of some sort (could have been a poor assumption on my part) since the opponent had issue with the model... But then again, maybe he was TFG, or was just frustrated and looking for things to pick at...
