Found a copy of this today in a charity/thrift store for £7, thought itd be good for some generic plastic minis and Hextiles, but turns out its in fairly good condition. Only thing that seems to be missing is the Cards which it seems I can download from the website? And I THINK the glyph tiles which look like they were just card hexagons and the drop on water tiles? Anyway wasn't sure how important those last too were. Any other comments and things from people on this?

When my brothers and our friends play, we don't really use the glyphs. The cards, of course, are 100% essential. There's also lots of customs on heroscapers.com with heroes from the Heroclix line, Star Wars and various others for a little variety.
The game is pretty fun and easy to learn and half the fun for us is building up a cool map. It's not the most balanced or anything, but it's a quick, fun game that even the littles can play with you.

Yeah it does seem fairly simple from what I have read up, and I spotted the custom cards when I went looking for the boxset card downloads. Hell even had a space marine set I think.
Ok definitely missing the glyph tokens and water dropones, but not exactly hard to make alternatives for at least I guess

There's also some nice rules for making and pointing out your own customs including a fairly robust card editor (usually used for making custom MtG cards).
If you're interested I'll see if I can dig up the links at some point soon.

Yeah the glyphs arn't really needed.
However if you put a little money into it and buy a couple starter sets worth of tiles and some expansions then you can get a great looking fun game that can hold the interest of kids.

Ah the glyphs not being needed are a nice save at least, and think I will have a look around. Looks like the heroscape stuff goes for cheaper in the UK than the US, and I can probably use some printouts to fill gaps in the meantime

Looks like the heroscape stuff goes for cheaper in the UK than the US, and I can probably use some printouts to fill gaps in the meantime I found that they made things needlessly complicated and caused fights between my brothers and I. If I remember right there were 2-3 factions? I can't recall. However don't feel the need to restrict unit selection to one faction like you would in 40K. Half the fun is having a powerfall angel character fighting alongside orcs, american revolutionary war dudes, a dragon, freaking aliens, and secret agents against an enemy hord of vikings, robots, snake things, and roman legionaries. I would advise on useing smaller armies with kids though, if you field every model in your collection then it takes a long time and kids get bored.

Everything can be found here: http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?
The custom card editors (the program is called MSE) add-ons are here: http://www.heroscapers.com/community/downloads.php?do=cat&id=5
IIRC, you'll need to download MSE from its site separately though. That's here: http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/
I'm having a little more trouble that I thought finding the rules references and balancing guide than I thought, but the next time I see my brothers I'll try and remember to ask them.
