Just curious. I've been playing khorne themed with heavy mech, a DP and hell drakes. It packs so much offensive punch. I run Kharn because he's so much value for his points and he's ridiculous with 35 cultists running up the board fearless. I'm wondering if I wanted to try some plague marines for a bit with typhus and zombies while keeping the drakes and the mech and the DP what the best way to run them are.

I guess my questions are, can I play nurgle as aggresively as khorne?
Does it pack as much offensive power?

I know a lot of people don't like berzerkers in this edition, but I find them awesome. IT's weird when I was going to start CSM I had the mindset I wanted to do all nurgle. I got the zerkers at a good price and ever since then I've played khorne and have won MANY MANY games! I love winning, I'm not a win at all cost sort of player but I like to win and retain some fluffy integrity whilst doing so.

I'm just curious as to what some good basic strategies involving typhus, plague marines and plague zombies are.

As for the mech to my list I've already mentioned the two drakes, I rock a defiler (run him up and shoot, he's sooooo good in close combat!) a AC/Las predator, and a vindicator. The daemon prince is also pretty much Heavy support and since he's tzeentch he's like mech because he's hearty as all hell.

What would be some good list bases for each point bracket, I'm thinking 1k pts; 1500 pts; and 2k pts;

Sorry for the wall of text guys, but I would REALLY appreciate some insight. Thanks! Also, Cheers!!!

Nurgle bikers are almost broken they are so good. I pride myself in that my Death Guard army fields no Heldrakes....but then I remember I have 7 Nurgle bikers...

Typhus' biggest selling point this edition is defiantly Plague Zombies. Got a backfield objective you want to keep, but not devote a ton of points to protecting? Drop 20 zombies on it and move on. Enemy got a big, scary monster of a unit that you're afraid of? Throw 20 more zombies at it, and it's gunna be so bogged down, it's effectively out of the game.

Also, don't discount Plague Marines on the offensive. FnP and T5 makes them amazingly resilient, we all know that. But S4 Poisoned (4+) attacks means you can reroll failed to-wounds when you need to, and a squad can drop low initiative MCs in combat.

Free Plaguegrit with very good durability and the ability to use the best overall power weapon (axe) for little drawback makes for a very strong assault unit. Support them with a high I HQ unit and you're looking good.

I run all my Plague Champions with a Powerfist, but I see even more people running axes lately. Is the axe a better value? I know you save points, but aren't vehicles a bit tougher to pop now?

Don't str6 + weapons negate zombie FnP rolls?

They do, but you'd need a metric gakload of them to kill a single horde of 20 zombies, and most armies will have some trouble getting that many S6 shots without leaving other targets untouched.

Gotcha,

Is there any comparison in play styles between khorne and nurgle? Or is it completely different? How should I be playing Typhus, my zombies, my plague marines?

wait a minute, I shot a las cannon at a ork mob in the open with a pain boy that granted fnp, and he still got the fnp roll.

I also shoot Autocannons (S7 vs T3) into imperial gaurdsmen and they still get a cover save which then if they had fnp they can make that too.

Can somebody please clarify the rule for ID on zombies to me?

on topic: Plague>Noise>Khorne>Tsons IMHO

Noise better than Khorne since they can take a IoE and get fnp. They can also take doom siren. They also can take other upgrades. Also Noise base points are cheaper than Khorne if you just want a fearless unit with bolters which can also be traded for ccw.

Anything that causes instant death negates Feel No Pain. Whether this instant death comes from strength doubling toughness, or from a force weapon, or a weapon with the Instant Death USR doesn't matter. ID = no FNP

And just as a reminder, Eternal Warrior will not let you retain FNP against instant death attacks.

So no one has really answered my question, with the type of list I'm presenting, how should I run this? How should I play the plague marines, zombies, and typhus?

I'd run 4 squads of plague marines and 2 squads of plague zombies. I would prefer to give plague marines meltaguns, bombs and rhinos+hml. Move up to an enemy vehicle, have plague marines inside fire melta guns then you can have hml shoot at the troops if they had to bail out. U could just give the squad 2 plasmaguns and jusy foot slog them instead. zombies just move to obj and hold.

Magic number of plague marine is 7. It use to bestow benefits but not anymore. The cost of 7 plague marines is just coincidently optimal. 7 plague marines achives nearly as much as 10 may have.

I feel that 20 zombies is enough but I have done no math hamering to analyze marginal gains on increasing squad size.

Kraks grenades are enough against light armor and even a few S5 AP2 power axe swings will help bust a vehicle. If you're worried about armor, a meltabomb as insurance works and is still cheaper than a power fist.

That said, power fists are nice for the instant killing and are a good all around choice.
