So when I got my new Farsight model over the weekend, I was absolutely in love with not only the way it was designed, but the surprisingly good quality of the finecast product I got. I couldn't help myself and painted it right up!

The lighting for pictures in my apartment is quite poor, so it's not the best but it does make me happy that I painted to this quality. I think I'll stress learning highlights on my next few models but I'm happy with how this guy is right now.

EDIT: The extra angles others requested (my camera is still crap, apartment lighting is terribad and the weather outside is overcast and miserable :< )

Pretty, but people want more pics from differend angles. From what we see from the front, it's looking nice.

Pics or it didn't happen! A good finecast product? HERESY!

Looks good so far mate, but yes, it's a bit too dark to notice the fine details and we could use other angle shots. It will look even better edge highlighted, tho

Nice and clean mate, great job! I'd possibly add some things to the base, as it is a little plain, but that is just my taste...

I agree the base is a little plain, but the model is gorgeous! Don't imagine too many will focus on the base when they got such a cool character in their face!

I hope your whole army is based like that. Green flock gets a lot of hate, but I think it looks really clean and goes well with the deep reds you are using.

Thanks for your comments, I'll be adding more pictures tonight once I get home!

I thought about it, but the resin felt very sturdy for the single strut, it's quite thick so it would definitely take quite a bit of violent effort to break. If it does break, then I can fix it. Otherwise, it is perfectly fine as it is now.

This is what it looked like before I finished painting/assembly:

It wasn't a perfect model by any means, some mold lines to clean up (some that I felt make the model look better so I left them, oddly enough) but after I had cleaned it up there was very minimal warping and no defects like bubbles or poor detail. I was pleasantly surprised!

As for the edge highlighting, I don't feel comfortable with doing that just yet. My issue is that I don't know the balance between when it is too much for obnoxiousness or too little for akward effect so I just leave it without. I'll be testing more on other models I don't really care as much about so I can understand it more.

I have to agree with you here. If I fix anything on him, it would be the base for sure.

My kroot are the only other models I have based so far and they're flocked very similarly. (rocks and grass) I personally chose to go with it because most tables I play on are large greentops so I might as well try to match them better. I find dirt/brown to be a very boring thing to look at (I played LOTS of Tiberian Sun growing up, I don't care for the color anymore after that game) so I try to stick to vibrant yet natural colors. I'm definitely gonna work on something interesting for my Riptide when I get it, so we'll see where that one goes.

Again thanks for your comments and I'll have those new pictures up soon for sure!

The banner on the hilt of the sword should be flowing back. Like the banner on his calf. It just makes the model look odd.

I can see what others are saying about the base as well.

Other then that great model

Under the couch

I would definitely recommend revisiting him when you're a little more comfortable with highlighting, as it would help make him pop a little.

Spending a little more time getting rid of mould lines can also make a big difference to the final result...

It's a good, clean paint job, though. Nice work.
