Sky shield and cover?

I had a guy on top w/ stealth. He shoots and I have the side shields up. He say I only get an Invul at 4+ and not my stealth 3+ for being behind the shields? It is true LoS right? If I am behind something I can get cover?

It is true LOS, so you deterrmine the cover save provided by the terrain, adding one for stealth. You then determine what is the best save

Right but b/c Sky Shield say it gives 4+ inv can i not take a cover save?

Given the rulebook tells you you MUST take the best save, no, that isnt the case

You determine cover, armour and inv saves applicable to that model. You then determine the best save, and take thaty one

So the side shields on the Sky Shield can give a cover save?

Yes, using TLOS if you are 25% blocked by the side walls, you receive a cover save based on what is blocking TLOS. This is all covered in the rulebook, even stating what cover save you would get.

It is entirely possible to have armour, cover and invulnerable saves, all at the same time. Whcih is why the rulebook then tells you to take the best single save from those 3

Well be glad its not as it is in Warhammer fantasy where the saves stack ( Armor save fails? then ward save )

However in 40k you MUST use the best of the 3: Armor, Cover or Invul.

A Skyshield is a fortification
The side panels are NOT battlements, just part of the fortification
Thus they grant a 3+ cover, going to 2+ cover with Stealth ... correct ?

Not trying to instigate - but why would someone argue this? The rules are VERY clear on how Stealth and SkyShield work...

Because the skyshield is a fortification choice as in the FoC, but it isn't a fortification in it's Terrain Type, which is "Unique. Open ground". Therefore people will argue that the walls don't confer a 3+ cover, since... they aren't really fortifications just happen to have the same name for the FoC.

Because the skyshield is already VERY good for its points.
