It's not so much that, but that it'll get a bigger response out of the intended audience.
Imagine, if you will, a story about a seventeen-year-old being mugged. The media will often refer to the incident as an attack on a teen or a child, because it will encourage more people to buy the paper
and the public as a whole associates those words with youth and helplessness, even if the victim is only one birthday away from voting age.

There isn’t an impartial media outlet in the world. Some may attempt it, but non achieve it.

In the UK all our Newspapers are fiercely tribal.

Do they? I understand that attitude in an old school chivalrous 'women and children first' way. But to say Women matter for than men is a ludicrous generalisation. There are plenty of worthy men and utterly contemptible women in the world.

The thing is, we really do treat them as though that "old school chivalrous" thing really does matter. I mean, look at the majority of sports in the world, The NFL, MLB, NBA, etc. all have a "Breast Cancer Awareness" something in their seasons, yet most do little to nothing for "men's cancer" issues. If you look at the way men are treated in most TV shows (the ones set in the modern age, not period historical pieces), this is further reinforced... we really could go on and on.

But yes, I agree, there are plenty of great men, and plenty of horrible women, and a metric gakload of horrible children out there, but we'll just keep glossing over that

That may allude to a new and interesting story grabbing attention.

But yes, all the media is biased in some way, some far more than others. Fox News, for example is unbearable for me to watch due to it's skewed proright, anti-Obama angling, Bill Maher, on the other side of the coin, is similarly annoying to me.

I tend to find the BBC far less partisan and British news reporting in general, at least on television rather than the papers, a better source of news than the American channels.

Also, even the less bias news in America is just as filled with sensationalism and horse gak, CNN's devolving into hologram guests and endless panels of talking heads whilst firing all it's foreign reporters, for example, is a prime reason we switched that channel off in our house.

Why should I care about an obvious series of crimes that has been addressed by the relevant authorities?

Moreover, why is breitbart.com claiming that its series of articles could have saved any of the victims?

The point was... these crimes are henious and should lead the news cycle.... but it's not happening.

I don't even remember her name (And nor do you, apparently.), that's how much news coverage the case got.

The article claims that the outlets saying they missed the story are doing good because they can now make a difference, but what difference? And what difference did breitbart.com make? The kids are still dead. At this point it is a "news" organization notorious for its lack of shame attempting to politicize a series of tragedies.

Natalie Holloway, I think. And she got wall-to-wall coverage, dude. Hell, the guy who offed her still makes the news every couple months, slightly less so now that he's in some South American jail for killing another girl.

Yeah, but it was a complicated drama; hence the Lifetime adaptation.

He headlined the news when the trial started. CNN talked in depth about his crime and his clinic just a few weeks ago. News will not spend two weeks covering the same thing with no new developments, that's just a fact.

The "lack of coverage" complaints are bias of itself because the people complaining want 24/7 coverage because they hope that talking about a criminal who was charged and is on trial for murder will influence the public opinion on legal abortions.

Huh... I'd actually believe that since I do watch CNN... so, I guess I missed that.

Anyway, i think this whole "lack of media coverage" in this case is not a real thing. It's a made-up news story, like people allegedly hating Anne Hathaway.

On the NBC one you have to scroll down to the full article bit, which at time of typing shows 1-9 of 270 results I'm guessing ?

Ahhh, yeah. He provided the link for "Recent Stories".

But, in searching the stories, I did notice that Fox had been reporting on this guy since 2010. NBC has only been doing it since Apr. 6th of this year.
