Food for a Giant Fenrisian Wolf

HI

After a long Hiatus, I've got the 40k bug again. I picked up the current codex for my beloved Wolves...and am really not happy with it. In fact, I rather hate it. This has inspired me to write my own codex for friendly games.

So begins Project: Vylka Fenryka...a post-Russ pre-beastiality codex of viking testosterone. Think Space Wolves circa M33-34

I have a few specific goals in mind for this codex. (much of the inspiration for this comes from 'Prospero Burns')

1 - first and foremost! to create a codex that is balanced, characterful, and can support a variety of play styles
2 - 100% less derp, yiff, and furry (I really hate thunderwolf cavalry and canis wolfborn)
3 - a 95% reduction in all the wolfed up wolfery those wolfers are wolfing all over the wolf.
4 - a return of some old units with more options...a tank named for the primarch seems fitting.
5 - a 100% increase in 'adamantium sack of power door knobs' type of awesome manliness.
6 - new special characters. A non-dreadnaught Bjorn is on the to do list
7 - a greater focus on the individualism of the Wolves (read less spamabilty, more variety)
8 - far fewer, but far better fenrisian wolves.
9 - significant changes to 'mark of the wulfen'. Rarer, more potent, but much riskier for it's user. I think the Mark should be the proverbial double edged sword.
10 - better balance. (I already know I'll be nerfing grey hunters and long fangs. And buffing vehicles and blood claws)

I'm currently about halfway through my first draft of Codex: The Rout. As soon as the first draft is done, I will post it here for review. I would greatly appreciate any play testing and suggestions.

More to come in the near future.

You could always buy Horus Heresy: Betrayal. IIRC, it's got a Heresy era rules for the Wolves, which I assume you're going for with this.

While the HH army lists aren't designed to be played with regular 40k games, it'll be a lot easier to convince people to let you use that than a homebrew codex.

this is why a decided against using the forgeworld books. I would have to alter it anyway for regular 40k games.

You didn't quote the pertinent part of what I said - "it'll be a lot easier to convince people to let you use that than a homebrew codex.". Forgeworld books are still Games Workshop books. While a bit of house ruling might be necessary (like not including the Lord of War slot), you'll find a lot less objection to using that than a homebrew codex, which most people tend to treat with - quite rightly - suspicion at the very least.
