Ok, so i haven't played since 6th ed started and i am a little rusty on the rules.

The question: Can tau sniper drones do a thrust move if they remain in coherency with the Firesight marksman? Why or why not. Thx

Yes they can but there's no real reason to since casualties are taken from closest units to furthest units you want them between your spotter and the other army. if your spotter dies you lose the drones.

Drones are not auto-lost because another model in the unit gets killed like they did in the last codex, and this is true of all drone types.

Only drones attached on vehicles are auto-lost if their vehicle is destroyed before they detach.

You don't lose your drones if your sniper shooter dies.

Your shooter doesn't even need to forgo shooting to allow the drones to snipe.

In fact, if your IC dies, his drones continue to exist as a separate entity. You have to kill both drones to gain the victory point. (unless the ic was part of a unit at the time - the drones become a part of the unit and the victory point is forgone.)

your right, I missed that the sniper drones don't die if the spotter does anymore. but it still stands that you want the drones to die before the spotter since without them they go back to BS 2, making them almost useless.

I stick sniper drons in an ADL with a quad gun.

Actually, you DONT have to kill the drones to gain a victory point, same for detached drones for vehicles.
Also Drones are counted as "Non-scoring and non-denial" unit. ref: Pg.33 IC and Drones 2nd paragraph, Pg.33 3rd and 4th line.

For an IC with drones killed while the drone remain, the drones must be killed as well to destroy the unit.

Third paragraph, first sentence under ICs and drone page 33

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Nope, you're wrong

Third Paragraph, under Independant characters and drones: wrote:The unit is not destroyed until all the drones have been destroyed as well.

Now as the "Slay the Warlord" trait is for a single model (Page 111, the bold text under title), you don't need to kill the drones to get the STW VP, but you do if it's a KP game.

I don't see how the point is relevant to what I was talking about.

I stick sniper drons in an ADL with a quad gun.

The fact that this works yet Tyranids can't fire one causes me no end of rage.

The drones do not fire the quad gun, the Spotter does. That way you have all 9 LPRs and then the 2 TL-ACs all at BS5

But there's no rules saying they can't fire it, right?
