Hello dear fellow hobbyists! i have an ork list at 1500pts that im building. i have bought about 70% of the list so far. ive not played with orks yet but have played against them. The guy i play against who plays his orks is constantly moaning about the orks saying they are useless and he went out to buy a necron army which he now uses instead of the orks.
The ork list he has is nothing like the list im building. i have it set in my heart that i want to prove him wrong about the orks and build a list that will give his necrons a run for his money. what im looking at doing is not just building a list to take on his necrons but a take all corners list that i could potentially use at tourneys and also against my mates when they moan that i win all the time just cos i play a spam helldrake chaos list or a wraithwing necron list or a Dreadknight spam gk list! i allways think part of the skill in playing war games isn't just tactically out witting your opponent but doing your research before you construct your army. After all you dont really want to go out and buy a £40 model and discover they are crap after youve ran it!
so here we go here it is. let me know at any suggestions/changes you think i should make. be ruthless and dont mock the gretchins, they're used to man my quadgun as they have bs3!

i wrote the list up on battlescribe. the option of shootas rather than sluggas are not extra points. with the change of fleet rule in 6th i feel the shoota option is better.
here what i own gork.
mek with kff
30 boyz 5 nobs
1 dakka jet
1 looted waggon
8 lootas with deffguns
3meks with kmblastas
1 deffdredd
10 gretchins with runthard
and an aegis.
do you think the gretchin idea manning the aegis is a good option.? they can sit on a home objective in the safety of a 4+ cover save and use bs3 rather than the bs2 every other unit has.
what do you have in mind of changes?

Well that does make sence. I may concentrate one of my squads for close combat and e other with shootas to vary it up a bit. Thankyou for the advice, sounds like a good list.

So for a start you definately want 2 units of lootas 5-10 (I like 9) behind a defence line, then you definately want 10-19 grots (I like 15) on the quad gun.
Next you need boys. Lots of them. 3 units of 20 or 2 of 30, use shoota boys and give them big shootas.
Your mek is good but you can drop the power claw and armour because you want to keep him out of combat altogether. Power claws on boys are noy necessary but some people like them.
The redmpainjobs on vehicles is pointless unless your goin for combat, (so not dakka jet) the grot riggers are not needed as who cares if they disable your wagons, it can still shoot. Also consider ard case to reduce the chance of it blowing up first time some one looks at it funny.
Never put meks in with lootas, and the only options you should be considering for your deffdread is skorcha and extre arms.
Your list has to little armour, and its all relatively light armour. You should get more or none otherwise all vehicles will be gone by turn 2. Kanz are considered better than deffdreads, as you can feild more.

A simple rule for running strong Orks is "Lootas and Shootas"
While I abhor your list, you've done a 'good job' of picking out some of the 'best' Ork units and spamming them mercilessly.
But hey, if thats how you want to play, more power to you... I suggest perhaps upping the Loota, Shoota Boy, and Dakkajet count, ditching the Meks in the Loota mob (they're worse than useless), and ditching the wagons (range 24" with *that* armour? No thank you).
Winners take risks eh? Well you take no risks with this list thats for sure.

Im the guy who runs a shokk attack gun and a weird boy everygame. I run 3 mobs of 30 sluggas everygame. I do not own a single shoota boy. I run komandos in any game over 1500.
I once gave up first blood and slay the warlord on turn 1 with that mek and in the next he removed 4 paladins and draigo from play. Just because I knkw how to make a solid list it does not mean I ever use them. Dont talk to me about taking risks if you dont know me.
A guy asks for advise on how to run a solid ork list that would prove to his friends that he can win with orks so I help him. Do not judge me for giving advice to those who seek it.

WHOA GORK I THINK HES TALKING ABOUT MY SIGNITURE! CALM DOWN MY GREENSKIN FRIEND.
okay... so it looks like the units i do own, are a good foundation. a few things to note with your suggestions are... the reasons for my choice of kustom mega blasters on the deffdread and the guys in the loota squads was to be able to at least glance his monolith and penetrate any quantum shielding he may introduce to beef up his necrons against my orks. i agree with the grot rigger option and the red paint job on my dakkajets that i should lose them. i put them in there to get peoples opinions on them in this blog.

Oh, very sorry, I cant see peoples signatures, and as an ork I never shy from a fight.
Yep 36 inch boom gun but they're still considered poor. Because they have paper armour.

Does it? That would make the Looted Wagon considerably better... that is, if it could ever survive long enough to actually take a shot. I'd still avoid it like the plague, its going to draw every puny little weapon that can penetrate that armour onto it in turn one and get blown apart. If you don't get first turn, its a 100+ point sink that won't see it to turn two

Sorry, saw this and it hurt my brain.
I play both necrons and orks at the moment, and while I must say that necrons are the "good" army, I never have quite as much fun playing them as I do with my orks. And if you are playing a game to win and not to have fun, what? If he can't have fun with orks... I don't get it. I don't understand at all.
My orks will never be useless. SAG mek blew himself up on turn 1? HAHAHHAHAHA that's great! Blitza-bomma smashed into the ground and died? PERFECT! Because I know for everything awful that can happen to an ork, something amazing can happen as well. Getting my battlewagon with 15 burnaz up to my opponents gunline is more than worth the risk of it becoming utterly useless if it dies on turn 2 to me. My SAG mek deciding to send draigo and friends back to the warp with 1 shot is great. And the good ol' wierdboy. Maybe he makes 30 boys appear behind your opponent's carefully planned defenses, only to immediately blow up his own head next turn.
I guess my point is if someone stops playing orks because they aren't good anymore, they were playing orks for all the wrong reasons.
