I'm making a count as Abbadon for my CSM, I'm using the demon prince arms and a term body obviously the arms look gargantuan (which is perfect for the fluff of my guy) so I was going to use green stuff to extend the torso and legs....

This will make him bigger than other terms by a little bit (like he's about a head and half taller than other terms)

Is this ok? Or would I run into issues since he could possibly be used to shoot over certain terrains and such (not that I ever plan on using him to shoot)

This isn't a rules question, more a modelling convention question. Only your opponent and/or Tournament Organiser can answer this.
Best you can hope for here is personal opinion.
Personally I'd be fine with, your model is less likely to recieve Cover Save which out-weighs any advantage gained.

Agreed 100%. This is something that really needs to be covered with your opponents and/or tournament organizers as it's not really covered in the rules.

Rule of cool should apply here.

+1 to the rule of cool.

To be honest, if you mount him on the same sized base as Abbadon, your opponent shouldn't have any problems. After all, if you're making him bigger, the chances are the only difference that'll make is reducing his claim for any cover save, which is certainly not something I'd complain about if I was your opponent.

By making him bigger you are making it more difficult to get cover, so no real advantage is being gained. Especially since Abbaddon doesn't really shoot.

As long as he is on the right sized base you are fine. The bigger a model is, the more it can be seen so its more of a disadvantage to you. Plus you get to factor in rule of cool. So Id say you are fine.

Heck when i do stuff like that, i always have a normal model on hand to swap him out if it ever really matters.

Not only those, but the issue I hear sometimes around here - they'll get more shooting range (not applicable here from what I'm reading) - is effectively canceled by itself. Sure, that Guardsman now on a Terminator base has an extra few milimeteres- but so does the guy he just shot.

Throw that in with the above mentioned cover save disadvantages and there is no overall positive reason to model larger through mechanics.

But like some have said, you do it for the Rule of Cool! (Exception would be someone like Lukas the Trickster or a GK Brotherhood Champion, whose rules contain b2b contact abilities. In fact, one of the Space Wolf unit entries actually chides anyone who tries to model a certain unit on a larger base to take advantage of their abilities!

I don't think anyone would ever call you out on what you describe unless you modeled him with crab-eyes that stick up another few inches to claim the extra vision.

Regarding the base discussion, I always figure GW could have set up some standard guidelines.

I have a model for an ordo malleus inquisitor that is wearing a Terminator Armour. Now, by defacto standard, all the models in terminator armour go on what we have come to call a terminator base so I placed him on one... but there's nothing in the rules that actually say that this is so... and the same Inquisitor geared differently would go on a normal base.

Since he's my own kitbash, (as there are no standard Inquisitors in Termie armour) there is no way of saying what he "came with," Although granted, large parts of him comes from a kit that came with large bases.

Still... how hard would it be to put that in the rulebook? "normal bases unless stated otherwise. Anything in a terminator amour, large bases. And if you have that old sniper model for IG on the Fantasy Battles Horse-base, please throw him out."
