Subject: Tenebra Prime or the Octarius Empire

So I came back from my weekly warhammer 40k game yesturday and someone there claimed that the Nids completely destroy orkz each time they ever fight.
He claimed one time the nids faught the ork homeworld and won, because they assassinated the ork warboss and the boys began to fight amongst themselves.
I then said "what about The Octarius Empire, where its calling a lot of orkz from everywhere to fight? Thats in a stalemate" and he responds with "no the nids won, I read it in a book. Octarius Empire is the same one I was talking about."
I think hes grotdunging me, and he praises nids left and right. I know they are one of the big bads, but he says nothing can defeat them, and that "No one else can blot out the warp".
I then responded with da emprah, and he says "just barely".
Normally I give people the benefit of the doubt, but hes been wrong about everything he has ever said, rulewise or storywise.
Edit: This thread is basically to ask if the Orkz lost Tenebra Prime or the Octarius Empire

Well it's been established they're pretty much the strongest military force in the galaxy, biomass being a renewable source that can produce more troops than any other.
Although in some outdated rogue trader canon the ork gods are stronger than the chaos gods it's just that they fight among themselves too often. All that early years comedy relief shiz.
As for things that can resist the warp, Tau?
Going off topic but try getting some minimum squads of lootas and burnas in battlewagons. That'l soften them!

Three things, one: Have ork gods ever manifested?
Two: Tau dont resist the warp, they just arent big enough to be effected by it(i think).
Three: I RAN LOOTAZ IN BATTLE WAGONS LAST NIGHT AND FREAKING WIPED THE TABLE WITHOUT GIVING AWAY A VICTORY POINT WHEN I FOUGHT GREY KNIGHTS HOLY CRAP THEY ARE STRONG AS ZOG

It will be a close call, this has been debated a lot of times...
it will be close but my vote is on Orks stomping Nids... There are to many reasons why i would think that to state here

The purpose of this thread however was to see if there is a book that says the orks lost on Tenebra Prime or the Octarius Empire.

The fifth edition Tyranid codex, p.30 - 31 is the only ''new'' source of info on this, AFAIK. Nids have killed Skarfang, the major warboss, have eaten Ghoralla, Derragon and Keltor, and are 'currently' fighting for Octarius. There's no mention of Tenebra Prime, and no diagnostic on the conflict, other to say that the Nids are thriving on the conflict, and that Kryptman's gambit could very well fail, since the Nids coming out of the Octarius Empire would be stronger than coming in. Your friend is trolling you if he say that the Nids have won this. It isn't won yet. But they are looking pretty damn good in the moment.

I thought the orkz WON tenebra prime? Thats what another thread said.
Also, checking http://wh40k.lexicanum.com, it says that the Octarius War is still pretty much a stalemate.

I'm not talking about Tenebra Prime, I can't actually find anything about it in the codex or elsewhere, beside an article name in a White Dwarf. As for the Octarius sector, the line you want to be looking at is at the bottom of page 31 in the Nid Codex : "The tyranids show no signs of stopping. Despite the machinations of Kryptman and the ferocity of the Orks, the Tyranids were not only surviving the Octarius War, thet were thriving in it.'' That's the current state of the conflict. No clear winner, but after the Hive Mind evolved the warboss assassination strategy at Ghoralla, it doesn't look too good for the Overfiend of Octarius. Regardless, your friend is completly wrong in saying that the Nids have won. Also, point to note, it's only a tendril of Leviathan that has entered Octarius, not the entire Hive Fleet.

This fight isn't going as bad as Kovnik is saying actually... The truth is that the Swarm Lord is with the nids atm, this means that they have their best tactition in the fight, yet they are still slowly grinding the orks down. The orks, on the other hand have only a warboss of some renown, but isn't a Ghazzy. We know absolutely nothing about him, or his background. All we know is that he is the second known Overfiend of Octarius.
The Hive mind assassination plan isn't as good as you would think. The Overfiend isn't stupid, it should be obvs cause he has survived this long. Also because he is a blood-axe, which isn't a regular type of ork, these are the orks that think out strategies. Though it is true that the warboss is effective, it isn't as effective as you are trying to make it seem, if it was as effective as you say, then they probably would have won by now.
All in all, I will say that the Octarius war should go to the orks, but the way that GW is marketing it, it will probably go to the nids, just because it seems to be a major fluff piece for them. Unlike the ork codex, which only has one passage on it, the nids have a page on it. If there isn't anything serious in the new ork codex, then this is officially nid fluff, so it will either be a stalemate like Armageddon or be a nid vic, which would be unfortunate.

Well, if you're looking for some fluffy background for Orks, I always liked the name of the Ork Empire of Charadon and it's Arch-Arsonist. Anyways, I think Willhman's ideas are most reasonable.

Swarmlord is now on Octarius and is assassinating new Warlords as they pop up, which has led to the Tyranids overrunning several continents of Octarius proper. So they're actually made some headway.

The Orks wiped out the Tyranids at Tenebra Prime. They weren't prepared for the Orks, and got trashed. Automatically Appended Next Post: Snoipah wrote:I have a question, where can I read about Tenebra Prime?
Tenebra Prime was the setting for a Kill Team Battle Report in white Dwarf around 2003. It was meant to show how someone could come up with a suitably fluffy reason to run a 'nid Kill Team. Essentially, Tenebra Prime was an Imperial World that was abandoned as the battlefleets retreated from the oncoming Hive Fleet, trying to slow the Tyranids by giving up low biomass worlds while they formed for a counterattack. The Orks took over Tenebra Prime in their wake, and when the Tyranids arrived, their supposedly easy kill turned out to be a slaughter, with all but a few of the most adaptable Tyranids being wiped out by the Orks.

Neither side will. It's just another case of GW having a stillframe of the overall galactic conflict.

Two: Little pedantic but semantically correct. Yaknow what I mean. No warp travel = No corruption
Three: Fun. Try burnas too. Flame templates and open topped transports are crazy OP last time I checked. It's been a while though
