Sadly I won't be able to pick up many models till after mid year, but that doesn't stop me planning. I know you mentioned to me that Axony are a bit stronger than the other factions Cyp, but I'm figuring they'll be brought in line with the rest of the lists with this 2nd edition.

I'll be aiming for something like this

50 resources, 2 hero levels

Imperial Duke Lvl 2
-Patient Commander Rank 2
-1 Bundle of Smoke Bombs
-Bugle of the Hunter's Quarry
-Emblem of Great Warriors

4 Bull Regulars

1 Bearded Highlander
-Targe

That leaves me with 25 coin. I don't really want any East India Company equivalent troops (the name from Brushfire escapes me), but they seem to be all there is that cost just gold in the list. Would that be an ok starting point? Or would I be excessively weak in one area?

The idea would be that the Duke orders the Bulls around for the bonus damage and then swaps to boost the Highlander when the enemy are in combat/I get a chance to charge them. Bulls shoot, Highlander chops, everyone is happy.

On another note, when do you see the Bearded Highlander and Imperial Duke models releasing? And what animal is the Imperial Duke going to be? Because if they are going to be a while off I may end up converting them rather than proxying.

The main issue with Axony's OP nature was the Heavy Brigader, which has been fixed.

Looks like a good start, don't worry about not filling out GD/LR 100%.

Imperial Dukes are Dogs, the named one is an Irish Setter.

The Bearded Highlander is on Bob's desk for sculpting in his next batch, and the Duke is alittle while off still.

Honestly, I think that Gold is the hardest resource to fill out, and without resorting to mercenaries, it's probably going to end up with some left over...

It looks like a solid enough list to get you going

Nice, this is very much like what I was working on for my Highlanders but on a smaller scale. Which reminds me, I need to rework that for 2nd.

Good start!

So 50 resources means 50 food, 50 gold, and 50 lumber?

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

I don't see Red Wu spending much of the gold or lumber. Looks like Axony can do that a bit better.

I like pikes though...hmm....but I would need to replace those dagger axes. They seem...inadequate. I like Chinese spears (Qiang) better.

You can also spend Lumber & Gold on things like Fortifications or Siege Weapons.

Yeah, most of my lumber and gold went to giving Red Wu heaters and Pikes... That's no longer the case... my stuff got cheaper D: Need to now buy fortifications and siege weapons.

Thanks, I guess I'll be going Corgi or something for the regular one then, greenstuff away!

Ah mercs, didn't think about them, I'll have a look at that

Hey so my first package is on the way tomorrow, and I've been thinking, how do I want to paint my regulars? So I've got a question, is there intent to make a 95th rifles unit choice for Axony? Would I be able to paint my bulls in the black and green and be pretty much fine with it? Or am I likely to end up with a clash further down the road...

Its unlikely that we'll make a dedicated unit for the 95th, but we might make variant Regulars miniatures that just use the Bull Regular profile to represent them.

I'll go with red for them then, and when I pick up a second lot down the track have another thought. Thanks

I duck home to my parents house upon rumours of a mysterious box appearing. Lo and behold, it is from OTL games. Huzzah! I'll post pics when I get home from uni and can start painting (preparing for assignments? Bah! Bull Regulars!).

And thank you very much for the dice, they were a wondiferous surprise

Here we go!

The box as a whole just opened (sort of, I couldn't resist having a peek at the bulls)

The Heavy Brigadier

One of the Bulls (didn't feel the need to take 5 of these, I'll wait until I start painting)

I'll be watching to see when you get started painting. Have fun, mate!

Nice picture of the Heavy Brigadier. That is one of a number of Brushfire hero models that I would consider picking up just for fun even though I probably won't be getting into the faction anytime in the forseeable future.

I have been having good fun working out a rough colourscheme. He isn't done, and the camera leaves a lot to be desired, but here you go for a WIP

Looking good mate, I'd suggest darker on the khaki and lighter on the pelt as a next move.

Did you have any issue with release agent? My metals stank of the stuff so I gave them a long bath and scrub down in case it stopped the paint taking to the surface.

I have no idea what a release agent is, but the paint went on just as well as other metal models, so I guess time will tell? I may wash the rest of them just in case though, cheers.

And thanks for the pointers, I'll give it a go.

It's the stuff they put on the mould to help the miniatures come out. Probably not an issue and I'm glad the paint went on fine.
