So, I just found myself with at least half a dozen partial Dwarf models from a bits box, and I'm thinking of turning them into models to use in 40k.
The problem is, I can't think of what exactly to make them, since Squats aren't really a thing anymore.
Fluff-wise they'll be some kind of Mercenaries working alongside the "Renegade Marines" I'm building out of broken Marine bodies and green stuff, which will either be Space Marines, Chaos Marines, or 'counts-as' Tau of some kind - so the Dwarves need to be part of, or able to ally with, one of those armies. Naturally I'll be making them their own rules as well but I'm just looking for a suitable 'counts-as' for them for tournament games and such.
I have lots of big guns, medium guns, and small guns I can put on them (mostly IG/SM/CSM weapons, a few Tau and DE), and plan to put enormous hammers on them as well. So far I'm thinking a Devastator Squad, but that doesn't take advantage of the Hammers. Assault Terminators don't take advantage of the guns, and I can't think of anything else since I don't know CSM or Tau codexes all that well.
Any ideas?
Edit: Necrons are also an option, as I'm building 'Looted 'crons'. They could take any Elite or Heavy support choice thats appropriate (or maybe a Royal Court?)

Tactical terinators have both big-ass cc weapons (powerfists) and big guns.

Hmm, that they do. Not a bad idea mate.
Do any of the Space Marines get better weapons options for their Terminators than the others? I'd like to get power weapons rather than fists if possible, and long ranged anti-marine or anti-tank
Also I forgot to mention, Necrons are totally another option - they can go with the 'Looted Crons' I'm building.

Just a small heads-up: fluff-wise, you cannot "loot" Necrons as they immediately teleport back to the base for repairs when they are "destroyed".

Chaos terminators can take a mix of ranged and cc weapons.
Anythgin from bolters to combi-bolter to autocannons, and all cc weapons from a power sword to a chain fist (and multiples thereof)

I also read in their codexes (I believe it was near the warriors entry) that sometimes the teleportation fails, and so the unit self destructs - it'd be feasible that this too could fail, leaving lootable 'crons, or that a Big Mek could make some device to thwart both of those countermeasures.
But regardless, I've just herped and derped some backstory about some Orks plundering an entire tomb world and selling off the excess gubbins to other warbands, including mine.

That sounds pretty sweet man, thats definitely the front-runner for my Dwarves.

That's what's SUPPOSED to happen. Are you going to try and tell me in the 40kverse, something works perfectly 100% of the time? Or the orks came across the remains of a thoroughly destroyed ancient tomb complex, and had fun with the bits and pieces they found inside.
