Got to watch a few games of x-wing up at the flgs tonight, looks really fun, hey are doing a tournament currently, too bad I'm in school . Plus new ship announcements happened this week for wave 5 which everyone was talking about, very exciting. Now I just need to decide on my 100point lists. I'm thinking the falcon with a couple x wings and upgrades, but I watched the firespray just decimate a tie swarm, so I might do that.

Thanks Vik, the current meta of the game seems to be the tie swarm. 7-8 tie fighters just nipping away at people. The problem is I only have 5 of the basic ties, I've seen boba fetts ship in action and it is nice , though vaster is nothing to sneeze at either, they are both just expensive. I was wanting to do something a little different than the annoying list, besides the tie fighters die so easy, they are like goblins in warhammer.

Each of the next three days I'm heading to my kids schools to do lunch with each of them separately. Let's see how well my frame fits on the lunchroom table next to 5th and 3rd graders . I just imagine sitting down and launching some little kid at the other end of the table into the air.

Moar ties will be joining he fleet eventually. Right now the money is really tight with having to pay the taxes on the new car and some other bills that have popped up. Probably next month or two, but also have all the kiddo's birthdays in the next two months. I have the 5 ties, a tie advanced, a tie bomber and an interceptor so I could build a modified swarm.

I just like being A REBEL SCUM though

I'd rather give the pound of flesh once to the government than be paying an interest rate on top of it to them for five years , even if I does mean it drains the bank account dry.

In other news my wife got the summer school principal position this year again . Last year she had to split it with two others to "train" them, but neither of them showed the district anything and won't be back. Thankfully this year she doesn't have to split the paycheck with two others (who didn't pull their share), and the only person she trains will be an intern, who has to show up everyday or not pass their grad classes.

I'm leaning towards doing a falcon and two xwings with maybe a fourth ship if points allow. The falcon has 360 degree firing arc which is huge in the game, most other ships have just the front 90 degree.

At work last night I got some more foam . Also once again I'm the "new guy", as the new new guy got fired so I'm back to being the lowest man on the pole . This guy did it all to himself. In two weeks he showed up for work four times and went home early three of the four times due to sickness, car accident ( though no damage to his car and he said he and his wife share a vehicle), and kid being sick. He also knocked five or six holes in the wall with the equipment, though he won't fess up to those .

Last thing I wanted to shout out I another new thread on dakka with another great scratch builder, too bad he's another Ork git
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/578262.page his name is Zogg, and the work puts me to shame, and reminds me of Cam's work for clean orkiness.

And Wolverine has been found , he never was that stealthyeven though he's a sawed off little

the round things on there are bottle tops that I like the texture of the edges on, I think I'm going to use them as tires. I used a piece of flat stock plastic to flatten off the back which will be attached to the vehicle.

oh....I never knew that adam kubert was such a strong influence for jim lee... you just need to compare the sketch of lee with the early issues of the first series of wolverine books... adam did all these and the pose and the flow of the lines speak adam kubert to me all over... this makes the sketch way more precious to be honest...

and those caps could make great looking tires...high tech ones at that... I would not add a complete round flat surface to them ... rather a smaller one to imply the idea of a ...damn... how is it called where the axle is connected to the wheel?

Got my first game of x-wing in at the flgs tonight nd joined the league even though I won't be able to play much. $5 entrance fee nd I got a limited edition wedge card. The game was a 700 point imperial versus rebel game with 7 players each bringing 100 points. To keep it even one guy fielded 2 mercenaries in firesprays (boba fetts ship) and go to shot at anyone. My guys did okay, I kept getting stuck because the 3imperial guys were all fielding modified tie swarms and no maneuvering was happening. We called the game after 4.5 hours, most of which was the tie players talking about how to manuever, but the merc player was winning out big time.

All n all very fun, I fielded three x-wings, next time I think the falcon and two unknown x-wing guys might be the play.

Vik, sorry, missed your post. Origami ships would be cool then you could set them on fire when they get blown up

nothing mini related as I have been wiped out physically. the foot problems continue, and it's taking a mental toll on me, but I'm off tomorrow so I can try and sleep in and let my foot recoup.

I did a little rearranging of the workspace, I hate throwing scrap bits away, but I'm at a point where a lot of things are going to disappear. Theres far too much debris in my gaming area for me to even think of building stuff or painting.

Lastly for those that looked at Dust tactics a while back I just wanted to point out that Miniaturemarket.com has some on clearance, including the building boxes
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ffgdt040.html
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/ffgdt025.html

Okay I lied, or had more time to take photo at least.

Some new garbage from work. The black pieces are packing trays for blood sample tubes, the clear thing is packing for som sort of inhaler, and the to clear tubes on the right are the tubes for surgical pins....big ones. The black tube holders I think I might try and use as forms for something , the clear one I think might make some neat tank traps/dragons teeth, no idea on the clear tubes yet.

Also in the pic you'll find my latest purchase, paint markers. You might be able to see the us I got them for....x-wing. The counters that come in the set as well as all the templates are thick card stock, and while the tops look great, the sides look terribad . While looking through the x-wing folders I saw Panic! Had painted the edges of his and suggested paint markers. You can see the virgin edges on one of the 3 curves and the finished painted black edge on he other curve and the asteroid. I also painted one range ruler red and one green, they are the opposite colors on the other sides of the template.

The clear ones have have a slightly generator vibe to me. Loving the black ones. Clear tubes, well so many uses!

Nice little haul. Are the bit's all hard plastic, or are the clear ones for instance flimsy?

Those pens look interesting, Will they be for numbering and pin striping I wonder!!

@shaso, I've used dr. Schols for the last couple years, fallen arches.
@cam, the clear ones are pretty stiff, they hold up good enough in packing situation, the tubing is a little soft, but not bendable. Hadn't thought about pin stripping, could happen.

Off yesterday with the family all day 65 degree weather so we were out and about. Also tax return hit, of course $1000.00 bucks went out the window yesterday. We now have two new 7" tablets (I'm still using the iPad), groceries for a couple weeks and a fancy meal that we only do a couple times a year(got to stimulate the economy somehow) . No gaming stuff in the list of what to do with the rest of the return .

I looked at my new schedule for work an found out they changed me to a better position, I now have every other weekend off , but I'm off of trash duty. Means less cool stuff overall, but means more family time and my day off during the week is set around school now too.

@cam, 13 wide baby , you know what hey say about the size of ones feet, if not "they are in direct proportion to the size of a mans sock " thought I wasting there huh? I don't wear brand name shoes like Nike or reebok, some say that's the problem, but i have a Hard time justifying $100.00 a pair for nice shoes that I'm going to ruin in 6 months of working.
@monkeytroll, God first (always), then family(which to me includes friends like you guys), then modeling/work/everything else. To make a family I'll tell you what I've old o other coworkers who are now happily married." Be honest with yourself, enjoy what you like." Seems stupid, but if you try finding that special someone by going to places you don't like, and wouldn't enjoy later then you might meet someone you think is right for you only to get sick of them later because they do like those things you weren't enjoying. I used o go to the bar with friends, and used to drink more than I should , but didn't enjoy the women that went to get blitzed and smoke. Honestly I stopped looking and God dropped my wife into my lap enjoy what you like and you'll meet someone through friends, family, work(like me) or through a common interest. Th rest of the family you'll have to build later and have to get that info from your parental units. I'm afraid of THAT talk with my kids.
@shaso, I've tried aleve, not my thing, I'll stick to ibuprofen. I chew all my pills, even the ones doctors tell me not to , its an old habit from childhood. My parents even tried cooking my pills inside hamburgers, but I'd find them. Aleve tastes terrible compared to others.

Good service today at church, going to work shortly, might get some modeling in tomorrow, we will have to see.

On a funny note part of the sermon was about the potter and they passed out modeling clay to everyone. I got a little sidetracked with sculpting the pastors face, normally not an issue, but I was running the projection "hey John, can you advance the slide"

hmmmm... it is a bit heretic to pass the modelling clay in a sermon if you ask me... seems to me as if we sculpt man then... that is all good at home but in church it would get me a guilty pang^^

have you considered real working shoes? I mean for your current position there is bound to be a pair of shoes that are snug and fit for the job...? I constantly wear my hicking boots regardless of the weather ...they costed me quite a bit, around 160€s but they walk with me and for me for around 3 to four years now and probably even longer still , specially if you need good footwear for the job I think this is something that is justified to be a bit more expensive...
didn´t your granny teach you that you can judge a man by his shoes and his hair?...

Man if I was judged by my shoes and hair it would be a short trial followed by a quick trip to the gallows .

I've had nice boots before, they lasted a long time, but hurt like heck with walking so much. I'm sure I just need to lose more weight. In the last three weeks I've lost between 12-15pounds. I figure I need to lose more and maybe my feet will stop the whining.
