So... drill or leave it? I drilled a couple of mine to check it out, but I can't say I've ever seen any others drilled out...

Bigger exhaust makes them faster, right?

I always drilled mine in the past. Would drill the vent holes too. And the exhaust on Rhinos, Land Raiders, Dreadnoughts... Barrels, muzzle breaks on barrels, flammers, air mixing vents on flamers... If there should be a hole - I normally drilled it.

Drill them, it might take longer but it looks better.

Drill them.

Here I thought you were asking for a good way to make bike exhaust... the answer is aerogel.

Should you be discussing this on Dakka?

Wow. It never occured to me to drill the bike's exhaust - and i build around 1000 points of white scars! I must be honest, if i ever gets some bikes again, i will defnately be drilling them - it looks alot better

On my Chaos SM army I actually used brass and styrene tube to do custom pipes too. Although regular marines probably aren't tuners, it provides another area to customize and add variety.

I say drill. Also, you could try this: Dip a Q-tip in black wash, squeeze out the excess and let it dry. When dry, pull on the cotton a bit, cut it off real close and stick it in the tailpipes. Going "green" has a whole different meaning in the Grim Future.

I would say don't glue the Q-tip "smog" in. That way it will store better and your bikes won't look crappy if it gets too much table wear.

Looks like the consensus is to drill, which is completely fine with me. One of the bits I have is pretty much the perfect size. I think I might also paint the "casing" around the pipes in black so that the pipes pop a bit more.

I've found a very small piece of plasticard tube makes it looks better and gives you the 'hole'.

Yes this makes all the difference just a little bit of tube on the end makes the exhaust look a whole lot better and more realistic! (Blue Peter moment) this is one I made earlier!
