I LOVE the Crisis Suits but I've always just built them standing up all in around the same position because I've never attempted to convert their legs so they can be posed differently. Any tips or ideas from anyone who converts a lot or has specifically converted these before? I want them on the ground still but want to make them look more in motion. Thanks!

The best way I ve found to test poses (especially in plastic models) is blue tack (or any other similar product used to hang poster on the wall). Besides that you will have to reside in converting and lengthen their limps (feet are short). It is a shame they didn't release new crysis models.

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

PM me if you are interested in Commission work.

Most conversions I have seen to get more dynamic posing cut the legs below the knee and/or the arm above the elbow.

Thanks to those circular joints there you can attach them back on at a different angle without too much effort.

I imagine there's guides out there but I'm not aware of any.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

This is my attempt. I straightened the arm and bent one leg. Little bit tricky but I think its worth the extra effort.

I straightened out an arm and then posed the legs to make a suit appear to be at a full tilt run. Looking at the model (it's still unfinished after all this time) I probably should have adjusted him to be leaning forward a bit into the run, but live and learn. I've not uploaded the photo here, but here's a link to the shot on picasa. I can upload it if needed though.

GW actually released a guide called "Converting Tau Battlesuits", I found the PDF online.

I did 3 suits (I apologize for the image, I ended up selling them before I finished):

[url=http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/485494-.html]

The one on the left, I simply cut the right arm where the forearm meets the round joint and moved it further out to straighten the arm and rotate it. I pinned and glued it in place.

The middle one had the same thing done to the left arm. I cut the lower leg where it met the round knee joint and moved it further back to give the leg a little bend. I glued and pinned it in place.

The one on the right I actually cut the lower leg at the knee and then turned it around. This made the leg bend further back, to give it that > 90 degree bend. I can't stress how much better it goes if you glue and pin it.

You can't really tell from this picture, but the one in the middle is stepping forward and leaning on the I-beam. The one on the right is supposed to be leaping into the air.

So I ended up doing my own conversion finally, was scared of messing up the model but... I think it was a success? Any input?

Looks pretty good to me, I'm actually stripping a bunch of Tau ATM and there's a battlesuit in there, I'll try and repose it.

I am adding some dedicated bodyguard suits to my list and wanted them to be more dynamic than the rest of my suits.
you want to have them interacting with the terrain (hard to show on a cramped 40mm base but doable), arms swinging back, the suit leaning, crushing stuff on the base. the suits are nimble but still massiveand you dont get that feel when they are just standing.

not finished painting but here they are (perched, ready to jump again):

Look, it's a Zaku!

Resv has a great Crisis Suit conversion; here's the link.

Honestly, the best Crisis Suits I see don't use the flying stand, instead they stand on the base by themselves. This allows them to be a lot more dynamic, since if you use the flying stand then the torso is going to be perpendicular to the base, always, which really takes away from the uniqueness of each suit in a unit.

Not really, it basically the same kit, just new arms and legs that have very delicate joints and an even more fragile ankle joint. On top of that, if you magnitised all the weapons on previous XV8 suits, you now have to deal with the forge world underslung "half" weapons.

With all the different options for Crisis Suits now and configuration choices, I think I may finally learn how to magnetize for the first time heh, anyone know a good tutorial or have any advice for magnetizing Crisis Suit guns in particular?

There are tons of tutorials and videos out there.

The common size is usually 3mm or 1/8 (similar in size but not an exact match) i recommend 2 things, for each hole, a pilot hole so you dont mangle the soft plastic and use a master magnet, a magnet with the polarity marked so you can magnetize all your suits and all your weapons the same.

I use metal coat hangers myself and then paint them black afterwards.

They fit right into the backpacks with minimal adjustment.
