I want to get just a general idea of how the people of dakka like their yellow, powerarmored sons of Dorn.

While I've seen good examples of all styles, I think my favorite ones look like they've just been through the Siege of Terra. Dull, weathered, and battle-worn, but stubbornly defiant. That sums up the spirit of Dorn the best, IMHO.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

I like the muted dulled yellow, i love the battle damagaged look as well. Tie for those, with the dull yellow being my favorite.

I like all versions, but battle damaged is my favorite. Like they just crawled out of a crater after having beaten an Iron Warrior to death with his hands.

I like mine black and a part of the Black Templars following the Second Founding.

If that's not an option, bright yellow.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Personally, I think that Space Marines should be bright and bold in their colors. I think that their look stems from a heraldric tradition, where stealth is eschewed in favor of honor, and the appearance of the army serves not to conceal, but instead to challenge. To that end, I think bright yellow is more in line with the army. That is, of course, just my personal opinion.

When it comes to battle damage, I think that is much more subjective. Either way you want to go is perfectly acceptable. As a personal preference, I like all my models to be factory fresh, but either way you want to go with it is fine.

I do my veterans and Terminators more fresh looking, and covered in honors, since they take great care of their equipment and armor.

My normal Tacs get the battle damaged look, since most likely they don't get such priority treatment from the Techmarines.

I saw that box at a flea market for under $100 a couple years ago, and I keep hitting myself for not picking it up. I love 2nd ed models so damn much.
