On a super side note. I wonder how tall the Battloids are. . . I dont think they are the full 70mm but I can only really extimate off of the game vid. . .

Miriya and Max would be EPIC! Though I think those 2 will be the most OP of the units just because they are THE best pilots in Macross saga (if memory recalls right)

Nostalgia is a MoFo.

I'm in for $500 and that will climb, I promise you.

In regards to height, search my posts in this thread, you will find what you seek.

So I checked the Flickr page with the Pod vs Wasp in height. Now there is no tape measure there but it looked to me that they were on a cutting mat which has (usually) 1"x1" squares so I used that. If my estimate is correct than the Pod is about 70mm (2.7"ish) tall so the Batloids are roughtly that tall as well. (good means that I can raise the bases and use them for Tau suits ((Yes I know Talon your not a big fan of the Tau)) )

They are much smaller...

Battloids are about 45mm tall, Regults are about 61mm tall.

Added extra $. That should help get us closer to 500k, and a free Kamjiin model.

We should hit that 475k mark tonight (we've been hovering a few thousand short of it for a while, are Amazon Payments down again, or just another slump?), and nice as it'd be to tear through 500k sometime tomorrow, I'm hedging my bets on during the weekend.

From there we'll have 15-16 days (basically the half way mark) for all the figures everyone's clamouring for along with some improvements to the boxes. Having a "legal unit" of a given figure in the box or available as a reasonably price add-on would be something I'd appreciate.

At least the Gnerl Fighters are down to $30 for a squad of 6 from their original $60 (not that we knew how many were in a squadron until recently).

On one hand, I'm not expecting to make it out of this without some kind of add ons. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'll be able to justify $100+ in add ons just to have 1 pack of each figure, especially if half of those aren't available in general play without some bending of how units/sides are built.

If it was the case it would make sense, in the show the Battlepods were noticeably taller than the Valkyries. Keep in mind that they're vehicles for people who naturally are the size of the Valkyrie.

from way back in the comments section when we asked about heights. the maths were done from the heights listed on robotech infopedia, divided by 285, and they confirmed that was about right.

There's also the official size chart
http://damommasboyz.com/sodapop/mechahot/sizechart-2.jpg
where if you measure from Valkyrie in Battloid mode's foot to head, it goes up to about the bottom of the Regult's particle cannons / above the sensor eye.

VTs were the size of a zentradi warrior (60') while the Battlepods were much taller and carried a Zentradi onboard.

Battlepods might make for interesting Tau suits.

Veritech Valkyries in Battloid mode are 12.7 meters tall, so about 42 feet.

Nousjadeul-Gers would make interesting Tau suits...

We've hit the 475k goal and 500k Khyron freebie goal is next along with the 2600 pledgers goal of two freebie artillery pods.

We need the 2800 goal, laminate cards will be important if they expect us to mark on them.

Did I miss a picture of Robotech Mini's as compared to other minis?

Also, laminating isn't that expensive, I've done it for several of my Battletech record sheets. It turns out, though, that simply reprinting Record sheets from the PDF's, or Heavy Metal programs is cheaper.

Yup, somewhere in the first 5-10 updates they put up a pic comparing a robotech fig to a space marine. There likely is a bigger version of the pic floating around but this is the one I got with a quick google search.

And I missed the new backer goals in the latest update somehow. Thanks to UN Test Pilot for pointing that out. With a rough average of around 65 backers per day in the past week, we should blow through the current pledger goal plus these three new ones in about the next 10 days or so leaving plenty of time for yet another series in the last 8 days (especially with the final 48 hour rushes you usually see with big kickstarters). Over the past week or so, I've gotten 4 free destroids and will get 3 free battlepods (two arty, one khyron) with goals over the weekend. That's not too shabby! Next week sounds almost as lucrative with another 2 destroids and 2 pods plus whatever stretch goals pop up!

Well, they got me. Battlecry it is. And since those backer goals will likely be met, I now only need to buy 2 packs of gnerls and maybe a set of male power armor and a set of female power armor (when available). $210 is more than I was thinking I'd spend, but I refuse to miss out on that extra bit of variety!

For the inside of a zentradi or sdf1 I was thinking of getting the mantic terrain from their ks. That and the obvious use for necro, 40k, ZM...

$200-210 is my max as well. With my early bird blitzkrieg and a MAC II, I've got room for two $20 add ons till I hit my max. I'm hoping to get an armored and super upgrade kit as part of the freebie pledge level but if that doesn't happen then I may have to move some things around and possibly remove the MAC II. I like it but that is one thing I wouldn't necessarily mind buying at the local store to encourage them to sell robotech stuff.

If they, at some point, add a respectable amount of FPAs and MPAs to blitzkrieg/battlecry, I'll definitely be getting a MAC II!

the Mothership...

Honestly, I don't think either will happen. They seem to be adding to the existing legal squadrons in the game and I don't see FPAs or MPAs fitting into that. I see additional special characters like max and miriya as well as things you may need or are allowed only one or two of in a squadron (like super or armored veritechs, artillery pods in the core game, etc) being added as freebies but I doubt they'd start a completely new squadron which is what would be required for gnerls and power armors unless you use malcontents. I certainly won't mind if I'm proven wrong but that's what I expect to unlock as freebies for the next 18 days or so.

What category do the Spartans/Phalanx fit in? Because I was basing it off of them making it into the battlecry from the backer goals. Either way, I'm happy to get a few extras on top of my base pledge, but more is always better

the Mothership...

I'm not sure what you mean by category. We've gotten 1 each free this past week and will likely get 1 more free each in the next giving battlecry pledgers a total of 8 destroids. Those 8 destroids can be fielded as two minimum strength squadrons of 4 each or one almost max sized squad of 8 (only missing a MACII). More is usually better but in this case I'd personally rather have two of something that I can use than 3 of something that I can't. I suspect we won't be able to use 2 freebie power armors without "cheating" with the malcontent squadrons.

By "category", I meant can those spartans/phalanx be added to regular destroid squadrons? Sorry if I was unclear. Right now we only have two (but 4 is basically a lock), I was just wondering if they were legal with 2, could be combined with tomahawks/defenders, or if we need 4 for them to be usable.

As for the remark about the power armors, you're right. Maybe they'll be nice and do with then what they're doing with the spartans/phalanx, though and give us enough to use! Or even just a legal squadron of gnerl fighters would be amazing

the Mothership...

Yeah, it'd be nice. Like I said, I'm expecting my last two add on fund slots to go towards two power armor add ons assuming I get at least one free armored and super veritech. If they can somehow be fielded as 3 in a squadron, I'd consider getting one add on of each type. Otherwise, I'll go for 6 female power armors instead. If the supers/armored/strike veritechs aren't free upgrades, I'll likely replace my MAC II addon with them instead. Either way, I won't go above my personal spending limit unless they really surprise the hell out of me like with a 4x4 macross themed map and cardstock terrain kit or something.

Here is what they listed as the prelim destroid squadron...

Destroid Squadron: 4x Destroids
Destroid Squadron Options:
+2 - 4 Destroids
+1 Mk.II Monster

Oh! Okay, so any destroid works in a destroid squad, that's pretty handy!

Depending on the way the freebies and add-ons evolve, I'll decide what I'm getting extra later on. Right now everything is far too much in flux, unfortunately, to make real good calls right now. One of the big drawbacks, and boons, of KS is not knowing what you're getting until the last day!

Considering how popular Robotech is. The Macross portion more as seen on this KS. I would not be surprised if third-party vendors created the unseen Valkyries ala plus, frontier, macross II and so on in this scale? If it can be done for 40K, I don't see why not for this game.

I can really see this being implemented sometime after the release of the game or before. The same talented folks that make 40k inspired add ons and in some instances new models are probably fans too. I don't see how this could not happen. Especially considering the aesthetics of the other Valkyrie models. So all you people making 40k stuff go make the unseens of the macross universe. You guys can have my money.
Remember make them posable and in three versions of course.

All Bandai lawyers are trained in Kung Fu and douchebaggery by Master Lynn Kyle himself! Hopefully he'll skip the lesson on borderline incest though.

Some interesting comments from the Ninja/PB crew on the kickstarter. One confirms what is already posted on the front page about MSRP for add ons (although maybe not for the core set) and the other might give us a hint regarding future stretch goals as we wind down the number of possible mecha they can make.

Anything that upgrades the boxed game will upgrade it for the entire production run. MSRP is still uncertain but the Kickstarter prices for especially the add-ons are definitely reduced. –Bargain Ninja

You know what would be really awesome? Terrain that was accurately scaled, affordable, and easy to get. Ya that would be Ninjatastic. –Great Ninja Ancestor

I'll still hold out for hope. Then again since it might nit happen ill order the micro versions they sell on ebay. Those are a bit of in scale but its all we've got for now I suppose.
