Why does that bag have to be so cool looking with the huge Robotech logo on it!? Why must it be so much!? I've never owned an army transport bag, but this one tempts me...

A more serious question is can Battlefoam deliver the bags on time?

They were unable to get the full amount needed to CMON to ship with Sedition Wars even though they had 5 months to get them done officially plus another couple of months that SW shipping was deleyed

The Rick Hunter hint is for the Super VT he flew in the episode Force of Arms.

[Edit] Which at the time was also Skull 1.

Any word about getting a unique sculpt for Max to join Roy and Hikaru?

There's lots of scuttlebutt in the Comments about it.

Lots of people asking for them.

Then the naysayers pounce on them and "inform" them that Max and Miriya (and other characters) just flew the 1J and later the Super VT and you can "easily" convert one that you get.

I still think they are coming.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

Probably not scale, but a SDF-1 model will look awesome.

If you're looking to build something huge that you can play on, build an ARMD - http://www.kent.net/robotech/ships/rdf/armd.shtml

Or just Google it for more pics.

It should work out to around 4.5 feet long.

I currently have an early bird pledge for the boxed game, but with all the stuff they are adding to the Battle Cry pledge, it seems like there will be no reason to stay at the Boobytrap or First Contact levels.

1890/285~~6.5 feet. Thanks for the table idea :-)

Although that width has to be wrong... It's only slightly wider than it is tall? To google!

Battle Cry is the sweet spot. Was not expecting the quality and quantity of Show Down to be honest. So far very impressed. Miniatures look great and the game play is neat. Very interested to see what next they reveal

Sometimes I forget numbers, so the 4.5 is probably off. I can't be expected to remember everything.

I'd have to troll the KS comments, but someone was already taking a crack at a foam board ARMD and had a couple pics.

That's the best thing about Robotech, lots of "technical" data is out there. I think there's a few versions of the ARMD as well. The plain Jane version if you are pinched for time is good enough. It's basically a flat flight deck.

This is a good one too, more flavor: http://rpggamer.org/page.php?page=570

If I had the time, I would build one like this: http://webspace.webring.com/people/rl/ltcolandyreddson/ARMOR-class.html

I would guess it's the armored VT first, but that's just me.

I think the new mechs will be Armored VT, Female Power Armor and Super VTs for the last week.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Some out of scale stuff like an SDF-1 or human characters might be neat too if it can be done.

It's pretty much settled that it's the Super VT.

I mean, that's the episode the "hint" is from and he's in the Super VT, soooo....

You might be thinking of the Strike VT, which is the one with the giant gun mounted to the right side engine.

Strike VT - http://mikenap22.deviantart.com/art/Robotech-Strike-Veritech-211132672

Either way, I want them all.

We're "naysayers" for pointing out that they have stock VFs with custom paint? Sorry man, there's still full models that haven't come out. Once we get Super/Armored VTs and female power armor and zentraedi infantry THEN I won't have a problem with tossing some rescources towards reposing figs we're already getting, figs that are already supposedly multypose kits. Still not a fan of the current Kyron Glaug, but at least for this one you'll get a cockpit you can open and see inside.

PS- and yes, I fully realize it's much easier to repose a 3d model than it is to sculpt a whole new one

I don't hear people crying about Rick and Roy, yet they fly a stock J and S.... Odd that?

I'm going to guess your next/backup reasoning for that will tow the line with.... iconic pose, yada, yada....Which, the very least, Max had as well.

Annnnnd again... I want all the minis to be released as well: Super/Strike/Armored/VEF and FPA at the least. Zent infantry I can take or leave. Technically they are wasting resources creating completely new miniatures for the Super/Strike as well. Those could just be bits on a sprue if the did it right. Armored could be too, but I doubt they could pull that off with good results. FPA is a given because of MPA.

The level of bashing that goes on when someone brings up Max, Miriya, Ben, or just about any character can get crazy. Yet no one bats an eye when someone expresses their want for a Breetai or a Valk D 2 seat trainer.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Funny I just started watching Force of Arms (the full Zentradi attack on Earth).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3vUCeWFJBk

(There's a better copy on youtube but blocked in Trinidad.)

And it is just BRUTAL. Cities blown to ash. There's a 2 second cut, a soldier and a child. Dialogue:
"How old are you?"
"Two"
(Both are blown to atoms)

Holy #$%^ing @#$@! And this came out the same time as GI Joe where everyone managed to jump out as planes and tanks exploded.

30 years later Macross is still @^&*ing good.

Actually, I didn't like the the custom Rick and Roy VTs either, but Rick was in at launch and at the time Roy was the only way to get a 1S (now not so much, since any VT kit can be a 1S/1J/1A). Super/Armored VT addon-sprues would have been the way to go as well, but judging by the Recon Battlepods, Ninja Division seems to want to make full figures instead of just addon sprues.

Unfortunately I'm in the minority of not giving a flying crap about the official characters from the show (those stories are already told), I'm one of the few that would like to see an emphasis on generic characters. I accept that without too much grumbling, but I draw the line when there's models missing completely and people are clamoring for something that is literally the exact same model. It's interesting you mention the 1D, since that wouldn't be a simple head swap, it would require a different body. The 1D is the 2-seater trainer version and the canopy in Fighter and Guardian mode goes back further into the fuselage to accommodate the 2nd seat (it is otherwise the same length).

Or I could just buy the Yamato one...

I actually misspoke, the VT-1 is the unarmed Trainer, the VF-1D is the armed Trainer.

It was also in like, 2 episodes. So although it might actually require a new model, the question is why make it outside of an objective marker.

To me, a request like that is silly, but I don't deride people making the request (not saying you do). Which is often the response by many when other make the same request for the character minis.

Again, just different points of view on what should and shouldn't be given "special" treatment. At the very least, they should make cards for them!

Also, are you planning to use the Deadzone mats for Robotech? I think they will make an excellent canvas to put a city on.

@ Kid - It's the only cartoon that has ever made me cry. When Fokker died, my world was crushed. That's some hard stuff for a kid.

I'm dropping my BLITZKRIEG - EARLY BIRD SPECIAL.

I need to save some money and my finances just can't support it.

So in around an hour from this post I'm going to free it up so any Dakka-ites should be ready to jump on it around then.

Its not the fact that they are "custom" models you are aso getting the stat cards that make them special.

Looking at Rick or Roy as normal characters they are some of the best pilots (Max and Mirya are better) and have better shooting capabilities. They may also have special rules that contridict the normal VT rules, like being able to change AFTER a move instead of prior or things like that.

Also the Roy model has the skull logo already on so it is different.

Yeah, nice character cards are actually exactly what I want for the character mechs. Leave the unique modeling to the painbrush, but give them super awesome abilities to make them stand out in the game! I never meant to argue against special characters in the game, if that's how it came across, just that the models don't need to be special. Even the skull and bones symbol would be fine as a decal, and possibly better since you could then make the entire Skull Squadron out of normal VTs.

As for Deadzone mats, maybe. I'm actually leaning more toward the Dropzone Commander mat and Buildings. They're 10mm, but be close enough. I don't actually expect to get much gaming in, the only buddy that loves robotech anywhere near as much as I do lives 2 hours away and the ones I play with all the time have utterly no interest in this outside of Battletech.

So I upped my pledge. I love the idea of the carrying case from the outset. I have so many models that still need a way to be transported or stored safetly that they either sit unbuilt or are never used in game play outside the home environment.

If not for the mediocre who would be great, and thank goodness for those who are just terrible they make even those who are mediocre look great

Durban-South Africa. Like schwow man!

This was my first ever Kickstarter, and already I can see the inherent evil. Every couple of days I notice I'm getting more man dollies for free! That's if I'm assuming right, I get all the add ons regardless of when I first pledged?

Also, dumb question time. When this is all done, can I buy more stuff above my pledge level? Right now I'm in at Battle Cry + Gnerls and Male Power Armor. Come the 20th can I decide impulsively to chuck a MK II on top? Or do I need to decide before the 20th?

I am severly thinking of uping to Showdown just so that I can run either a small 3+ game OR one HUGE game. . .

E_T they say that you can increase the pledge total after wards which is what I want to do for sure. I get paid 3 days after this ends and I REALLY want to toss 200+ more into this. . .

Welcome to the addiction. Each time I think my money's safe and there's nothing on the horizon a Kickstarter comes along and screws my budget.

When you pledge doesn't affect what you receive at a given pledge level, so if you pledge on the first day or the last you'll receive whatever comes with that pledge. It's why you'll see the pledges shoot up on the last day as the lurkers ultimately decide to jump on since the extras are just too irresistible.

My experience has been that you can add extras on after the Kickstarter has ended as long as you pledged at a certain level. I can't state that this is how this will work for every one but it has been for the three I have pledged, each one with a different company.

I would agree that Dropzone commander's terrain set is great value, you might want to consider just downloading the images and resizing back to 60-70% for a better fit, for Robotech.

That aside there are plenty of other sources for terrain, buildings etc at this cale and despite the hints I do not think that at the moment the KS gets to hung up on supplying their own.

My pet project looking to play around some a those lovely starship interiors, from Worldworks or Fat Dragon Games for a little onboard fun.
