I'm just starting on some Necrons Slaves, i mean Allies to my chaos horde and the Forge world stuff is definitely going to be a tempting addition!

I'm curious how this works fluff wise. Necrons seem like the least brainwashable army out there so I'm curious to know what the background for your army is?

PM me if you don't mind; I don't want to hijack this thread

If the pylons are Artillery, where are the crew?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

They have a special rule "Canoptek Artillery" that makes them function on their own, as a T7 3+ 3W piece of Artillery.

When I think Necrons I think self repairing living metal...doesn't oxidise and rust!

Bloody poor choice of painting.

Though I know the consensus is not to like it but model wise obscure but cool, I could have a fun time with that if I had the skill.

I don't like how the front of the Tesseract Ark curves all the way in front of the pilot. I know Necrons probably use all sorts of fancy sensory equipment to control their vehicles, but I can't help but imagine that poor pilot has no idea where he's going.

I plan on picking up the book and a Sentry Pylon.

The Tesseract Ark looks pretty nice but for that many points I would never use it outside of apoc games. Same goes for the Nightshroud Bomber.

the only thign that really puts me off is the price tag - but it's FW so you knew it was going to be pricey anyway.

I don't know Praxiss, it puts out A LOT of firepower. The Solar Flare mode, is 3 strength 7 Ap2 blasts, and it can fire two Gauss Cannons, or two Tesla Cannons. It's a pretty powerful gunboat.

The Bomber I need to try out a few times, with AV12 it's pretty hardy for a flyer. The Bombs it drops are pretty good as well.

I do think you're pretty much limited to one of the new expensive choices though, in a regular game.

Yeah, and it's TWO Tesla cannons, not a twinlinked pair. It can swap them for Two Gauss Cannons, for free.

The Tesseract Ark, I'm not sure on. It is very powerful, and very durable, between AV 14 and Jink, but it's also pretty expensive points wise.

Well, they increased in cost by 5 points.

I'm considering bringing a unit of them, since a lot more people seem to be bringing Land Raiders and what not. Still though, 50 points a pop is rather pricey.

The Tesseract Ark is also heavy, so it can fire all of it's weapons and still move. It also has TWO tesla cannons, they are not a twinlinked pair. That means you can still move and fire three weapons from it. Quite the gunboat.

EDIT: You can also swap the 2 Tesla Cannons, for 2 Gauss Cannons, for free. That's pretty nice. Since you always count as stationary.

If the tesseract ark is heavy then it doesn't get jink.

True.

Will have to wait and see the full rules and maybe proxy a barge for one to see how it plays.

But definately picking up a Sentry Turret. The chance to have a long range S9 gun makes it pretty worth while in my eyes.

Right. I didn't know it was heavy, until I read the entry.

Ah, ok.

Not sure if it's worth it still, do we really need another high priced slow moving gunboat?

I think it may be. It puts out a lot of firepower, and has the three firing modes on the main weapon, so it can function in a variety of roles. It is pretty expensive though. I've got the model coming, so I'm going to give it a shot, for sure.

EDIT: Forgot to Add, it has a 5+ Invul standard. Also, any model trying to ram, or assault it, must make a Dangerous Terrain test, and always counts as a disorderly charge.

Well the invul save alone makes up for heavy. So ya, ok, I'd rock it if I bought it.

Yeah, I'm going to run it for sure. I just need to free up the points. I haven't decided if I want to take it with the Two Tesla Cannons, or the two Gauss Cannons.

I would go for tesla . gauss is best on warriors where you can have 10-20 shots per unit . for a cannon to get a 6 isnt much as they are already strong.

The Big difference for me, is the AP3 on the Gauss Cannons. I normally go for Tesla, but since I'll never snapfire with this, and they have an Equal amount of shots, the Gauss Cannon may be more useful. I normally go for Tesla on my Immortals though, and bring Warriors for more Gauss.

Gauss Cannons are pretty handy so i would take them whereever you can - as you said, AP3 is nothing to be sniffed at.

Does anyone know what slot the Sentry pylon will be in? I'm assuming Heavy Support.
