JDave - Yeh that is a fair point, the infection tactic was actually much more effective when we were starting out and were battling it out for Mitchem.

DAF - That's awesome mate, I have an ASI member outside Caiger, me TCreed and Grakmar were all there until recently protecting the Mall like the good old days. I turned on Hard Mode, got killed and couldn't find a BRR Clinic anywhere. Ended up heading off across Malton and had to ask for a survivor to help me, when I finally got back I got really unlucky and died again, since then I've been attacking as a Zombie instead still under ASI. If there was a group of us it might be possible to rot revive but it's a hassle so it might be best for me to stick it out as a zed.

If that sounds like a lot of hassle then you should join me in Whittensdie. It's a whole different game down there, it's always dangerous because the Zombies rule. I run a Doctor type character but I often have to skip over the border just to find a hospital or if I'm lucky a NT which isn't overrun. I'm looking to set up a base of operations there and try and clear out some of the dead.

Either works, just link your Char and we'll meet up and arrange something.

The Wanderer is now spent. I'll linger and haunt Ling for awhile while I regain AP, I put 1 Damage into the Genny

I don't know if you've read my "speech" but this is basically one half of it -- or maybe three quarters given your implicit criticism of the survivor mindset. Yeah, if the harmanz get their way then it's game over. We zambahz are basically trying to save the world in a manner of speaking.

Central to that goal is breaking free of the survivor mindset. That effort is what I think is barhah. More specifically, barhah means we must reject the attitudes and methodologies of harmanz because the result of doing so boils down to harmanz fighting harmanz (the attendant ancillary disorders are death cultism and dedicated PKing) and the result is clear: the marginalization of zambahz. Just check the current game stats.

Sure. I was called Issachar Ward back then. I can't recall where I first woke up but it was as a survivor and I made it to Caiger pretty quickly, without knowing any better. I hung around St. Isadore's for a while but got disenchanted with the recurrent "mall tours" various forum-based hordes kept launching. This was just before the First Ruin, so harmanz still believed Caiger was something special. To me, however, it felt like nothing we could do would matter in the face of a megahorde.

So I looked at a map of Malton and settled on trekking out to V-town, although I can't remember why. Even in those days, V-town was a drag. There was less than nothing going on 90% of the time and way more than we could handle in the remaining 10%. That's when I met Rita and she had this vision, under the rubric of M.E.R.C.Y., of turning our burb into a safe zone, a kind of anti-Ridleybank. Or at least that's how I heard what she had to say. So that's how it came about, just a few at first and never many.

The First Ruin happened right after that and megahordes were still tearing around Malton's malls. Mitchem as you might imagine wasn't much of a speed bump for them. Still, it felt like we were making a difference and folks were certainly lining up at the Dinovan for revives. I grew restless with it, fed up with getting steam-rolled again and again despite a growing membership. So I disappeared for a while and although I drifted in and out I was never particularly active. And every time I came back and saw Rita and the others in the exact same situation, well, it kind of poisoned me against them through the years.

I don't know what I expected when I started the ASI via Dakka. I guess I was hoping to write a new story about a better struggle. In the meantime, Issachar joined the RRF. That was the biggest thing I could think of to snap out of the ennui of survivordom, to completely turn on M.E.R.C.Y. I stuck with it for a while and started to understand barhah. No it's not the wacko religion the Militant Order raves about and it's certainly not the "team spirit" the RRF makes it out to be, either. Barhah is what makes the game possible.

That's when I put the call out for the Nurglings. As to our target -- how could it be anywhere but V-town?

As I recall, we had Kenefie and Cuthbert (and generally Chudleyton) well held, but were unable to kick the 30+ zombies out of Caiger, or stop them if they decided to roll through Chudleyton (which seems to be how things are now going down in Vinetown; just we didn't have the arrogance/egotism I see many (MDK) in Vinetown exhibit). Eventually more of us dropped off and we became even less influential (I recall trying in vain to hold Rodwell).

I'm sure we all have different recollections! I'm sure mine's somewhat influenced by the whale of a time I'm having as a zombie!

ASI were good times though. I don't think I have the time (to procrastinate) to run more than one account anymore though - sorry Casey!

You know Manch, I think that's the first time you've posted the whole thing in one go! It's a good story and I've just realised that it's entirely likely we crossed paths the first time I played too. Seems like the times and locations match up pretty well as far as I can remember.
I've always found it odd that you don't seem interested in RP but you enjoy spinning the story. Is it just a less active approach you take?
Also, I enjoy your take on Barhah but I think it would be good if you provided a little more guidance on it. What I struggle with is that your Barhah seems to peak at a complete absence of communal gaming. I'd like to be wrong but I see the very idea of having a clan in direct contest with your Barhah ideals. At least it contests the idea of abandoning harman methodology. I operate under the ideas you express about stopping marginalization and opposing to maintain the balance but I don't think organising ourselves contends with this doctrine.


To be fair ASI still had a presence until about a week ago. Simply because a few of us swapped out chars when the Nurglings moved for Vtown. Now the presence is just me and I'm undead and attacking the area I fought tooth and nail to defend for so long.

Seriously looking at Vinetown block map and wondering how to put the pinch on the humanz like:

1. If we knock out Babcar Tower does that mean all commo goes down? If so and we keep it down then they're yard birds running around clueless
2. If we have another go at the mall....which mean literally all in on one corner but then they dog pile us.
3. We round robin it clock wise or counter clockwise
4. Thinking like a human and first thing I want to be is armed.......
5. There are two factories for generators....
6. We fringe Vinetown boundaries and hit the outside blocks.
7. Strap Kronk to a telephone pole and make a proper battering ram of him.....appeals to me for some odd reason
8. What's the equivalent of a Walmart in this game?
9. We do a roaming dead patrol around the mall....doesn't really appeal to me

After further research, it appears the mobile phone tower is not a valuable target.

The humans can still use radios.

MDK and other humans also use DSS satellite phones.
