Hey guys,

I really love how the new codexes comes out on hardbook. I bought my WoC codex on hardbook because I really like them.

However, I am a man that easily forget rules. A friend of mine has the digital codex, and he shows me that you can easily click on a rule, and it will show you exactly what it is.

Now I jumped from Blood Angels to Ultra marines, and was looking at the SM codex on the iPad.

Does anyone know if future codexes gets updated for free after buying the first one on the iPad? If so, it is money well spend.

I heard rumors about a new codex for Ultra marines later this year, and would hate to have an oudated codex in my collection on my iPad

No one knows, though it's fair to guess that no, you will not get future editions of the book for free.

I suppose we'll find out when C:SM gets its update.

I think that you're right too.

If we at least could update it with a discount would be nice. But it is GW after all.

While I wouldn't like to say about the move from 5th-6th and getting a free update, what the iCodex does have in its favour is that FAQs are automatically incorporated, and the SM flyers have been updated into the codex.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Do they charge you to update with the FAQs as well?

I know. One of the reason why I wanted to buy the codex. Would be easier for me.

But if the new codex should come in five or six months, it would suck to buy the digital codex, just to get it replaced and be stuck with the old one in my collection.

As Grendel says, FAQs and unit updates are free to the codex.

The big question is...

What will happen when the next edition of a codex will come.

Well at least that's soemthing.

When they get updated by an FAQ - do the alterations stand out in anyway? (like bold text or a different colour to make sure you see the changes)

if they offered a discout on future releases then that woudl ake the digi-dex more appealing. but with it being the same price as the hardback i just can't see a valid reason to get it.

It gets updated FAQ/new units.

Spelling Errors.

You can click on rules like ATSKNF and see fast what it does. So if there's a rule you have forgotten that's a fast way to read it up.

The Death To The Skies rules also appears in the codex so you don't have to buy that book neither.

I really like hardback myself, but gotta admit that it is very nice to swiftly be able to check special rules etc.

I would assume updates to the current edition publication, like FAQs, Eratta and added units would be free.

If a new codex is released, It would be a new publication and probably not be free as many people would want the old codex. (I still use my 3rd edition ork codex) So if it was bulldozed it would be bad.

I guess we will find out in 5 years when SM and Necrons are up for updates.

I would expect this to be the policy. it's reasonable, as a new version tends to be a pretty massive change.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
