i've never really used an MC before but i have just finished my Tob Stalker and read that it will be getting Rampage so i wanted to check the ruling.

As i understand it, Smash means the MC boosts itself to S10 for the cost of losing half its attack, rounding up.

So the Tomb Stalker could have either 4 S6 attacks or 2 S10 attacks.

But what about bonus attacks (as in Rampge and charging?) - are these added on before or after Smash is applied?.....

if Smash is applied After bonus attacks:

Base attacks, plus charge bonus, plus Rampage roll (lets say 2 for this example), apply Smash = (4+1+2)/2 = 3.5 (rounded up to 4)

if Smash is applied BEFORE bonus

Base Attacks, apply Smash rule, add on charge bonus and Rampage = (4/2)+1+2 = 5

Q: The rulebook says that you halve your Attacks characteristic
if you perform a Smash attack. However, if a Monstrous
Creature has an uneven number of Attacks,(3 for example), but
has charged that turn, does it receive the bonus Attack for
charging before or after halving its Attacks? (p42)
A: You halve the model’s Attacks characteristic first, then
apply any additional modifiers. In the example above, the
model would halve its Attacks first (rounding up to 2), then
receive a bonus Attack for charging.

Smash doubles the Strength (capped at 10) it does not boot to 10. Funny thing happened in my last game (Tyranids vs Daemons): My opponent took Skarbrand. I had a Tervigon with Warp Speed and Crushing Claws. I charged - 2 Attacks (3/2, rounded up) + 2 (charging) + D3 (Warp Speed) + D3 (Crushing Claws).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Ok, and just to be completely clear. If i declared Smash, the extra attacks I gain from Rampage would be S10 as well?

All attacks (with the exception of things like Hammer of Wrath) will be at the modified strength (10), not just the 'halved' base attacks.

All units (friend and foe) within 12" of Skarbrand have Rage.

He's pretty beastly and does wonders in a Slaanesh list. Also in example given he should still kill the tervigon about 5 times over before it gets to strike... he also hands the Swarmlord his ass and pretty much any neatly character except draigo.

It really doesn't matter how many attacks the tervigon in the above example gets. Skarbrand is I10, WS10, has a bucket load of attacks, hatred, rage, fleshbane, and causes instant death. That tervigon was dead as soon as it decided to charge him.

Not when Skarbrand can't land a blow...

With 14 dice rolls he failed to roll a 3+ that is extremely unlucky.

No he has 7 with Hatred. So to fail to hit he'd have to miss 7 out of 7 which would get him 7 rerolls which he would have to also miss. Hence 14 rolls.

To be fair he did land a couple of hits. And then promptly rolled some 1's To Wound.

Just to be clear Praxiss the Rampage rule only works if the Tomb Stalker being a 1 model unit is in assault with a unit of 2 or more models or multiple enemy units that add up to 2 or more models unless you have another friendly unit in the combat as the enemy models have to add up to be more than your friendly models, in the case of a single vehicle you would get no Rampage attacks so just 2 base attacks for using Smash and +1 charging bonus (3 in total) but against a squadron with 2-3 vehicles in you would get 2 base attacks for using Smash, +1 charging bonus then +D3 for Rampage so possible 4-6 attacks.
