Perhaps one where you switch between different Marines from different Chapters throughout the Campaign.
I've just never been a fan of the Dawn of War series. It never captured the scale of the universe well-enough for my liking.
P.S. Any news on, with SEGA picking up THQ and the 40k license, what is happening to Dark Millennium? Last I heard, they were dropping the MMO aspect and making it a single-player game with multiplayer components. I'm wondering if they're going to finish that game.
I enjoyed the hell out of Space Marine and would love to see a sequel, but I'd rather see another 40k RTS before another shoot mans/punch mans game.
I don't exactly understand the appeal of DoW1 anymore. I've played the hell out of it and while it looks cool to see the huge armies fighting each other, there's just not much strategy really involved. I think any games at that scale degenerate into "all my dudes vs. all your dudes" fights and strategy goes out the window since there's not even room to maneuver anymore. I'd be perfectly happy with a scale between DoW1 and 2 with more interactive terrain like in DoW2. If any game could recreate the amount of fun I had during DoW2's multiplayer, I'd be ecstatic.
As for Dark Millennium, THQ folks were quoted as saying the MMO side of the development ended in March 2012, but there hasn't been a peep since.
I called Space Marine a short yet highly satisfying game. I'd love to see more of the same.
As for Dark Millennium, it's a dead end. There is a rumour that Bioware bought the rights, but the source is dubious and I've heard nothing out of Sega.

Would it kill you to make one happy post? Please? They also have enough to do with the content to suggest new features that neither us nor Relic has though of, making the game(s) thoroughly enjoyable.

I've made numerous "happy" posts recently. Perhaps you would like to check my post history?

It was a joke, meant to highlight that you tell it how it how it is, I love your posts, you're one of few people who puts people in their place well.
But, back OT, I think we can expect great things from DOW III, perhaps greater squad customization and less focus on just the characters. I'd love to see a mix of the larger battles from 1 and the more skirmish type missions of 2.

Actually if another DoW game was being made I think Eugen Systems would be the guys to do it justice, at least the multiplayer aspect. Have any of you played Wargame European Escalation or Air Land Battle? They're really quite good, and play like much more strategic DoW1 games but without the annoying build order, so you actually have to plan things instead of just churning out units for the meat grinder. A game with a scale leaning closer to WG:EE but with Company of Heroes level of unit control would be ideal. That way there would be the possibility for massive battles of the Imperial Guard as well as the smaller more intense skirmishes that Space Marines are known for.
