Hello all. My main army is eldar and I have a few questions about wave serpents.

First question. Since 6th I find myself taking far fewer wave serpents. My average 1750 point list had 3 or so. Now im down to 1. I usually put fire dragons, guardians, or stricking scorpions in them. Not being able to get out of it and assualt even before moving gets really annoying. Also not being able to even contest an objective makes it worse. However fire dragons are still awesome in them. So just wondering how many do you all take in your average 1750 pt game and how do you use them?

Second question. Wave serpents are a very awkward shaped model when it comes to storage. For this reason I generally store them on my book shelf. I have started to notice that after a while these guys collect a nice coating of dust. The paint job isn't the best but I'm proud of it and would like to protect it. Also dusting them off all the time gets old. So how are you all storing yours?

I have 2 in my army of 2000 points and a fire prism and falcon. I am not the one to answer that question for you though i just have them as part of my army composition at the moment .

I store my eldar army in a clear tub i bought for 5-6 bucks at home depot. Keeps dust off them and i stack it with my other armies in tubs. I then plan to get some foam or magnets for the figures to transport them and magnets for tanks and glue down a piece of sheet metal to bottom of tub. If that makes sense? Until then though they help me stack my armies on shelf and keep dust off them. If i do get dust on my figures i just use a large brush and lightly dust them off every once in awhile (when i stored them for display on a shelf). I am sure there are probably a lot better ways to do that though. You also might look for a cabnet with glass front doors like a china type cabnet as an example if wanted more of a display that might help keep dust down.

Wow I really like the idea of sheet metal in the bottom of stackable tubs. What makes it even better is my serpents are already magnetized. Thanks for the help.

I stacked mine 3 to a foam tray, in my cupboard which is in my shed of shame (it is where my 12,000pts of Eldar, 10,000+points of SM and 5-6k of GK were all consigned in the latter year of 5th ed.

I can just get 5 trays between the shelves, which leaves little room for the dust to get into them. The infantry models and walkers are in cases, also stored in the cupboard.

Failing that, get some air-in-a-can spray duster.

An airbrush with no paint? It should be cheaper, if you've already got one.
