Okay, so I'm building Chaos Space marines, I have a Chaos Lord, and 20 cultists (2 champs, one with CCW/pistol and the other with CCW/shotgun, one flamer and one stubber, 8 with autoguns, 8 with pistol/CCW)

Half of the cultists will run MoS so they can hit marines at the same time
Half will run MoN so they'll be a lot harder to dislodge from cover

I really like this set up and I'm going to run it for sure, even up to having 30 cultists in each with 3 flamers/3 stubbers

Now my decision is for the Lord and the cult marines that will accompany him and bulk up the force.

I'd like your opinions Dakka, should I run him MoS with Noise Marines or MoN with Plague marines? Feel free to back up with fluff, crunch, modeling, whatever arguments you want to bring to the table

Wow, tough call. I'd go MoS, but I like running good ole regular CSM with +1 Init and FnP. I give them two PG and give the AChamp a PM or PS with a combi plas.

This is what my Plague marine squads would be. 2x7 men with 2 PG, champ with combi plas in a Rhino with Havok launchers. Points to spare might go into a better CCW for the Champ but Plague Knife isn't bad.

I wouldn't be running regular marines, Cultists with Cult marine and vehicle support is awesomely fluffy and it seems to work really well. (On the tabletop, on my wallet and on Army Builder )

My noise marines would be totally different, small squad with IoE all CCW/bolt pistols, champ with dual LC (One LC one PF for specialist weapons and the option to swing first and rape MEQ or swing last and rape TEQ?) probably, definitely a doom siren, Lord with Burning Brand of Skallie, in a rhino with dirge caster, combi flamer and dozer blade

The other squad would be kitted for fire support, 5x sonic blasters, one blast master, maybe icon maybe not (depends on playtesting and how bad they get shot up) and some ablative wounds/bolters, in a Rhino with Havoc Launcher and another combi bolter so it can play fire support too after unloading these guys on an objective.

Once I've picked up my two core cult squads and upgraded my two cultist packs to 20x each, I'll be at 1000 points of solidness, then I'll start laying on elites, FA and HS to taste

'Straya... Mate.

Nurgle all the way, much more fun to paint in my opinion, plus plague marines are nice and strong.
