Got my G&G KS brushes today, was wondering who else did and what their opinions are because i have to be honest mine aren't very favourable. (To the point that i may need to contact G&G for a couple of replacements)

Anyone else?

Yikes. That's not good to hear. I have not gotten mine yet, but have high hopes.

Just because I am curious, can you detail what makes your opinion of them not be favorable?

Yeah sure, ill be doing a full review for my website but basically quality wise they arent that great.

The bristle seems to be of cheap quality, holds paint ok but as you apply paint to the model the tip/point breaks up badly. The brushes seem to have been constructed rather cheaply (glue round ferrules and general cheap feel) and although ive not looked through all the brushes i have one end on a 000 that is downright unusable. Some of the brushes have poor points which i atribute to the bristle used. (its quite dry and stiff not supple like you would expect from Kolinsky sable)

These are the quality concerns. I wasn't expecting them to be W+N quality but i was rather hoping them to be above average and on first inspection they certainly arent

ugh. That is not good to hear. It makes me wonder if they said they are going to be Kolinsky sable, but they are using something else.

Mine arrived this morning, Iused the 4RX to lay down a layer of red on my storm talon and found the bristled to splay shortly after it was first used. A minor annoyance and it was worked back to a point with delicate care and attention though it had a nasty habbit of stray bristles that made me resort back to using my GW standard brush shortly after. I have yet to use my other new brushes and this could be an isolated incident however I thought adding my experience to this might be helpful.

Response from my wife was not thrilled, blowing money on brand spanking new brushes only to use a tattered old gw standard brush to clean up after them

Hate to say it, but I also received a set of Games & Gears paintbrushes and they haven't worked out too well for me so far. I've tried out the 1, 0 and the 00 and after a couple of the very first strokes, they splay apart and lose the tip. It's so bad, that there's absolutely no reservoir to hold any paint, I literally cannot paint with the brushes.

I'm just hoping that these are some bad ones that I received, I plan on contacting them as well and finding out what I can do to get this resolved. I had high expectations for this Kickstarter, and I still do expect that these are good brushes, just that we received some duds probably.

Lets hope so, ill have a good look at all the other brushes and get hold of G&G see what their take is on it. I just checked the KS and they are billed as Pro Studio Kolinsky Sable Hair brushes so it isnt just that my expecations are too high, i can see them getting a lot of flakk off this one. The fact they just turned up in a jiffy bag probably shoud have been an indicator.....

Got mine, they are better than my W&Ns S7 brushes!! Seems like you got a bad batch, G&G seem to replace them fast. Also 3 other of my friends and apparently as good as my set. Bit weird, a lot of other threads in other forums have said nothing but great things. As I was anxious till I got mine. Although I am a sad panda. Only pledged for one set. Will get more when they start selling them to everyone!

That at least is a relief. Im hoping i just got unlucky. In any production run there will be a few bad examples. Ill see what G&G do for me.

Still painting my Dark Eldar wracks with these. Pretty sweet. I'm not sure how it works but send them a message. The small size 1 & 2 brushes are sweet. I have not use their flat brush or size 4. When i do will give feedback.

Well G&G have replied on the KS board pretty damn quickly it must be said. They seem to be committed to sorting any issues so thats good. Ill drop them a message in the morning.

Sorry about that DiabolicAl. So far the overwhelming response has been good. Please send us a PM via Kickstarter and we will do what we can to sort it out sir.

We just got this pic from one of our backers J. Lawson who used our Pro Studio line to do this miniature. We are very impressed :

Well done J!!

I have to say, my first wave brushes were terrible of quality and now, having received the PSS1&2 brushes, I sadly have to confirm that my PSS1 brush - I've not bothered even opening the size-2 - is also terrible - there are stray hairs all over and the bristles simply cannot hold a point!

I'm sorry, I really do want to be positive about it, but the product description uses the words 'Pro' and 'Studio'. This should be an indication of the quality expected.

I received a PM from G&G after I received the first wave of brushes, asking for photos. Now that I have all of my brushes, I'll be sending pictures immediately.

Very disappointed, if I'm honest. The whole project seems a bit rushed. There was so much emphasis on getting the brushes out quickly to people, I think that quality-control took a back-seat. I also have to agree with many people's comments on the G&G Kickstarter page that the brush caps are simply too cheap - they split within a couple of uses.

:(

I'll certainly not be recommending these brushes to anyone.

Out of all the massive amounts of people that have received them, though, right now in this discussion there are at most three of us mentioning the quality of our brushes. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that we happened to receive the small percentage of brushes that didn't turn out well.
I've also sent in my pictures the other day and they've promptly shipped out a new set to me. Once I get those, I'm going to try them out and hopefully have some good brushes to use!

Sadly, I did give them the benefit of the doubt, which is why I initially told them not to bother sending me replacements for my sizes 1 and 2 brushes. I assumed I'd just gotten a bad set. But when my second wave contained brushes of equally poor quality, I felt very let down on the promises of quality they made.

You say that only three people have complained on this forum, but a lot more have spoken out on the Kickstarter comments too, as well as a couple of people on the 'Eavy Metal Facebook group.

I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I just think that having two batches of poor brushes is an indicator that there may be some bigger problems afoot.

I wish G&G all the best and hope they can iron out all their issues, but for future Kickstarters - as they say on 'Dragon's Den' - I'm out.

This make me sad to hear as I have not gotten mine yet and I have a few sets coming. My fear is it will be a huge waste of money and I will have sets of brushes I will not even use.

I will do my best to hold out hope.

To be fair, it does seem that there are more people pleased with their brushes than not.

I think I've just been VERY unlucky...
