The Relic
The Humans had guarded their treasure well. The power core had been fueling the entire Adeptus Mechanicus base, and was afford as much security as possible. A team of wraiths managed to infiltrate the facility, and take it beyond the boundaries of the base, however crack teams of imperial guard had manage to pulverize them into dust, leaving the core in a no-mans land.
Overlord Xerius thought to himself “That core must be mine, the humans neither own it, nor does it belong to them! We built it! And it will be ours once again!” as his armorer bolted a ghostwalk mantle to his frame.
The plan was simple, shock and awe.
Teletrix stood nearby, reviewing the gear of his assembled cadre of crypteks. Masses of newly-liberated immortals from previous conquests, and warriors stood in perfect stillness, awaiting the commands that would send them hurtling into the fray.
The Head Cryptek hefted his staff of light, striking a short bow.
“All is in readiness my lord, however, scouts report the humans have mobilized to the field, they have brought several leman-russ pattern tanks. They could pose a threat to us.”
“Our gauss weaponry will scour them from existence. Worry not”
“As you will it my lord, we are ready.”
Xerxius turned towards his warriors, standing at ready.
“Today we will show them their folly! Today! We will strike a blow they will not soon forget! Today! We secure our birthright, and re-address our proper place in the universe! For the Triarch! Leave none standing!”
The monotone grating cheering of the immortals may have in another place been taken as condescending, but Xerxius knew better.

Night Fighting Active The Field of Battle
Turn 1 Night had covered both armies moving into positions, however, the Imperial Guard had set up a killing field before the power core, expecting their Necron Foes to advance into the teeth of their guns.
In a sense…that was the plan. Xerxius wasn’t nervous, assuming Teletrix successfully arrived, he would arrive safely as well, and the final squad was of small consequence.
The timer engram counted down to zero, as the bulk of the Necron forces simply vanished from behind their barge cover. Moments later, the area before the Imperial Guard army warped and twisted as all three squads deep struck before the Imperial Guard army.
Barges flew fast as they could to try and find targets in the night.
Guardsmen recoiled in horror at the force in their midst. Their leaders ordering them to open fire and cleanse the xenos in the name of their God-Emperor.
However, machine prevailed over man, as the Necrons fired first, Xerxius with a flourish, saluted his doomed foes.
Slave chips in the warriors’ optics activated by Teletrix turned their targeting protocols into overdrive as they unleashed hell on the nearest leman russ, their rapid fire turning it to molten slag with 11 glancing hits.
The Immortals under Teletrix, joined his fire on the Second Russ, barely managing to render it inoperable.
The third squad opened fire on the nearest Guardsmen, joined by annihilation barges, turning them to ash, with the fickle protection of the night stripped away by targeting scarabs also released by Teletrix.
A pair of psykers are claimed by arcing lightning.
The Imperials realize the scourge in their midst, and begin their counter-attack. Lascannons streak into the night, but fail to damage a barge, while the Lord of Crimson urges his men forward at bolt-pistol point towards the Necron host.
The Psyker battle squad members scream as they channel their powers, targeting the warrior squad and Xerxius.
Xerxius felt fear, and he knew his warriors felt it too, their posture denoted that much. He, with a thought, activated an over-ride signal, rendering them immune from the effects of the Psychic onslaught.
Lasguns, multilasers, plasma and flamers flash, downing 11 warriors, with 4 returning to the close-quarters firefight, as well as an immortal, who returns to battle.
Turn 2 The Human Counter attack had been fierce, the Necrons needed to thin out their guns Xerxius left his warriors behind, charging headlong at a 10-man guardsmen platoon in cover raining shots on his forces.
Meanwhile, the Immortals started advancing, one squad moving to support the Warriors, the other to press their advantage.
However, not according to plan, their air support had not yet arrived.
Barges continue to move up and lay down curtains of lightning, largely focused on the psyker battle squad and the command squad’s chimera. Given a targeting uplink from the High Cryptek, the Chimera is left a smoking wreck, and the psyker battle squad is reduced to 4 members.
The desperate firefight continues between warriors and guardsmen, however the warriors shift their priorities seeing the tell-tale green of the Dark Angels, and another Psyker. Their fire thins out the tactical marines, and wounds their leader.
Guardsmen scream as they see Overlord Xerxius tearing up the hillside towards their fortifications. A hurried salvo of las-fire and promethium gives rise to a cheer as they lose sight of him, until he plows through the wall of the bunker.
Guardsmen rush him with their bayonets, however they have trouble hitting him. He in reply, performs a brutal series of counter-blows, slaying 6 guardsmen, his warscythe making a mockery of their armor. The remaining members flee from the battlefield. And he walks back down to the hulls of the wrecked tanks, finding cover from the plasma on the field.

The guard fight bravely on, as their reinforcements arrive. A vendetta sweeps overhead, grav-chuting their men down to the battlefield.
Stormtroopers cast aside their camoline cloaks, and primed their meltaguns.
The barge pilots never had a chance, the command squad orders their heavy weapons to bring down a barge, and they do just that, sending a fireball to the heavens.
The stormtroopers meltaguns find their mark, and detonate the second barge.
However the vendetta has less luck, the pilot of the barge manages to dodge a surely fatal blow.
The special weapons team barely has room to land, almost landing amongst the immortals.

They toss their demo charges into the implacable Necrons. Their explosives find their mark, blowing away both crypteks and 8 of the immortals.
The overlord leading them raises his resurrection orb high, as the Chronotek, and 4 immortals stand back up, and the squad about-faces to meet their enemy.
Meanwhile the Psykers shriek again, and unleash another attack on the warriors, who without their leader, find their resolve is greatly weakened, and they break and run, under a fusilade of las, bolter and plasma fire, leaving scrap metal behind for their efforts.
Turn 3 A Night Scythe shrieks onto the scene, dropping its payload of immortals on the power core, and lines up the Vendetta, as the remaining barge sneaks behind the vendetta to fire on it’s rear armor.
The Immortals continue to march, and the warrior hold their ground, as the overlord leading the demo-charged immortals sends his troops ahead, and turns to fight the special weapons troopers.
Warriors manage to kill off the remaining marines, the guardsmen fight on however.
Night Scythe and Annihilation barge lay into the Vendetta, which finds its velocity locked, and trailing is billowing smoke.
The newly-arrived immortals deal with the stormtroopers, their carapace unable to save them from the precision volleys
Teletrix and his immortals lay into them for their stubbornness, scouring a dozen guardsmen from the battlefield with their Gauss Blasters.
Meanwhile, Xerxius sees his opening to end the majority of the Guard shooting. He charges around the end of the wrecked Leman Russ, and into the surprised Guardsmen. Their overwatch was ineffective.
“WHO AMONG YOU IS BRAVE ENOUGH
TO FIGHT YOUR BETTERS!?”
The Crimson Lord prepared to step forward, however, a Sergeant steps forward first
“You and me Ugly! Lets dance!”
The warriors circled for a moment
“I wonder what a warscythe would do for your looks….might be an improvement scum.”
The guardsman lunged with his combat knife, leaving not a scratch on the Overlord’s Sempeternal Weave, he in reply, backhands the man to the ground, and finishes him off.
“Yes…definitely an improvement”
The Overlord on the other end of the battlefield charges and routs the Special Weapons troopers. They escape from him, and run towards their lines.
Moments later, the Psykers shriek again, and unleash another attack on the warriors, without their leader, their resolve is greatly weakened, and they break and run, leaving scrap metal behind for their efforts.
As if on cue, a man appears behind them chucking another demo charge at the Immortals. It blows half the remaining squad away
The Vendetta flies away, unable to get a bead on its Arial opponent
However, the command squad once again orders the heavy weapons to take the final barge down. The pilot forgot about them, and eats lascannons to the back, destroying it utterly.
Guardsmen stubbornly keep shooting as the Immortals advance on them, managing to down a few of their number.
Xerxius continues to reap a bloody tally, cutting down guardsmen with Inpunity as they are unable to hurt him in reply.
The company command squad rapid fires the immortals with their plasma. Cover from the tanks saves a few, however, several of the slagged immortals against all odds reform themselves from the molten wreckage.
Turn 4 The Necrons press their advantage, as the warriors reform on the power core, and set up a perimeter.
The immortals walk past them into the fray as the Night Scythe Flies overhead, lining up the heavy weapons teams. Its Tesla Destructors scour the building of the guardsmen within.
Immortals unleash salvo after salvo into the command squad, platoon command squads, and psyker battle squad. Wiping them out to a man.

The overlord takes more damage in melee against the remaining platoon command squad, however he still manages to rout them. He consolidates into the building to hide.
Xerxius on the other hand, continues to scythe down guardsmen by the handful, he admires his handiwork as he dispatches the last man, leaving only him, and their commissar leader.
“I am Xerxius! Overlord of this dynasty! You will bend knee or die!”
“My faith is strong! I can defeat you yet Xeno! The Emperor himself will guide my blows!”
“I don’t see him here, I don’t think he’ll be fighting for you today”
The remaining guardsmen are nearly completely routed, small pockets of resistance continue to skirmish with the immortals, while the Vendetta comes back, lining up the Night Scythe. The pilot however manages to jink the damage.
The Necrons surround the final guardsmen, who drop their weapons in a vain attempt to surrender. Their reply is forthcoming as Gauss blasters flare.
The Commissar rains blows down with his power sword, hitting with half his attacks, however, he lacks the strength to truly strike a damaging blow.
Xerxius on the other hand, has no such issues as he finishes the man off. The battlefield is mostly quiet, apart from the moans of the dying an whirring of servos.
It was a short walk back to the core, his warriors dutifully guarding it, as the Night Scythe hovered overhead, using its invasion beams to transport it from the surface of the planet. The two Necrons nodded at each other, the plan had been expertly executed, and their losses had been minimal.
“You’re done well today Teletrix, you will be rewarded as such.”
“You are most generous my lord.”
“The galaxy will yet again tremble at our approach….soon”
Post Game
This is a gutsy list, really relies on the deep strike dice. It worked really well this time, and I took out the blast templates I was afraid of, effectively neutralizing 3 units turn 1. I'll need to experiment with this build some more, because man is it fun to play!
I'm not really sure what to say about the guard on this one. Going with vets, and taking plasma may have been a solution, but in this case, with blind lists, there wasn't much to do about it, if anyone has suggestions, let me know!
