Is there any Tournament Ork Lists out there? I am fairly new to Warhammer 40k, I currently been playing at least 2 game a week and kinda getting beat up on a bit. I joining a league in the next 2 weeks and honestly I want to win! At least have a chance to win.. I am looking for a Tournament/competitive list, Each week more points will be added it will start at 1250 and go to 1500 up to 1850 and then 2000pts for the last weeks So ideas and thoughts on all levels would be great. I think for the 1250 I am going to run a bunch of big gunz maybe 6, maybe 10 lootas and then fill in boyz and Gretchen from there. I am not sure that's the way to go...

I have posted a few other posts on beating DA,and got great feedback, thanks to all that have already worked with me, this time ill be facing much more then DA pretty much every army type minus a few. I know people at my store do like flyers but i do not expect to see them until 1850, Maybe 1500 but i doubt i will see them at 1250.

The current meta is "Lootas and Shootas"

That means
>Lootas
>Shoota Boys
>Dakkajets

You can also run Nob Bikers with success.

Run this with a KFF Mek or a Bikerboss. Tear every other page out of your codex, because you won't be needing them if this is the style of play you'll be running.

Check out my 1850 list in this forum I've almost wiped out an experienced blood Angels player with it and I'm really new as well and don't know what I'm doing. Also keep in mind Orks are not exactly the strongest faction anyways. They havnt has in update for a while and the changes to the overall game have hurt them

I checked out your list, its intresting!

Depends what you do with them.

Personally, I'd say Lobbas behind an Aegis, using one of the krew and their ammo runts to get some damn good shooting on an attached Lascannon.

And you think Dakkajets are our best flyer options over the bombers?

The Bombers are rubbish from a competitive point of view, but great fun.

The Dakkajet is no fun, but has excellent stats. Personally I'd only take it if I knew the other guy was running fliers, because it can really murder them.

Cool, I only ask because I found out yesterday we are doing a 2’s league the next few months and the kid I am going to partner up with told me I should handle the flying and a little ground support.. So I was thinking a could of jets, some lootas and a group of boyz

Add or subtract stuff based on your points level. If more points, more Shoota Mobs kitted out as above. If less points, cut a Dakkajet, then a Loota Mob, then a Shoota Mob, and repeat as needed. Tell the other guy to bring long ranged anti-armour 14 because thats the one thing this list caan't handle.

Boom. This list has absolutely nothing redeeming about it whatsoever except that its powerful. There are approximately 9001 other players running the same thing, but theres a reason for that. Now if you'll excuse me, the simple act of writing that abomination up has made me rather ill.

Dear God that is a lot of repeat dakka, probably is pretty competitive. I would say going for true "competitiveness" follow dakkamites advice. Although I have to say do not be afraid to try the units you love. For me it is killa kanz! Yeah everyone bashes these guys but a lot of it depends on your meta play, and I am coming off of two games running 9 of them and tabling nurgle csm player turn 4 and ending my friends slaanesh daemon win spree just yesturday with them. So you can make things work, best of luck ;D

I appreciate the advice everyone, I will see what partner says on the matter but i think he will like your Idea to run heavy boyz lootas and jets. I know he wants to win we are both starting out and its a good prize to the winner.

The newer you are, the higher the ratio of Lootas to Dakkajets you want. Lootas are gunline models, very easy to use and require pretty much no skill or tactics. Dakkajets, since they actually move, and because of very awkward aircraft movement, are harder to use. So prioritize maxing out those Lootas.

Two D-Jets should be enough to take care of any air you encounter. Make sure to get them Fighta Ace. This is their main job, once the air is dead they can then shoot at other gak, but they should be nuking aircraft as much as they can.

Another good addition that I forgot was Aegis + Lascannon + Big Guns (+3 ammo runts, several extra crew). That would help alot here because your lacking in anti heavy tank. It would be worth dropping a D-Jet for that. Remember, Gretchin are so short that they cannot see past the Aegis - so Big Guns aside from the Lobba cannot fire past one, however, Gretchin also cannot be fired at whatsoever by regular weapons when hidden behind the Aegis! A scoring Grot mob hidden in such a manner can be pretty much invincible.

I personally prefer to keep lootas to three 10 boy squads behind an ADL. They can go to ground for a +2 CS and their shooting doesn't suffer that much.

The current meta tends to downplay battlewagons, but if you have any problems with armor or gunlines a couple of BWs with deffrollas shred vehicles. (Even better if you get a PK and boarding plank in there.)

I got my first win against DA today! It came thanks to everyone who helped me the last week. I had multiple post and putting it all together really worked out for me. Thanks again I look forward to picking your brains more as the weeks progress in my warhammer life I hope I can help bring experiences a new ideas to the table as well

I used Wagons yesterday and was very dissappointed. Which sucks because I have ten of the damn things!

As for 10 vs 15 Lootas, a big difference is that 10 can easily lose fearless and run off the board if they take any losses. I'd say large squads are only an issue if/when you run out of space behind the Aegis for them to cover behind.

Battle Report?

There is pros and cons to both the 3x 10 and 2x 15 lootas, I went with the 3 set of tens, and that was good because i did not have a defense line to put them behind so i had them in ruins and 15 would have been hard to fit and not stack them on top each other. And it gave me the ability to spread fire out all across the board. However the fearless thing is huge, I think that is nothing to sneeze at and thinking i might go the two set of 15 next game to see how they work.

I keep hearing that but can't find the rules regarding it. Is there some limit to unit size with regards to going to ground?

Also Cobra if your running Lootas you really want an Aegis. And if you have an Aegis you really want the Big Guns and attached Lascannon or Quad Gun (I'd really recommend Las even though everyone else will say Quad)

I was not referring to go to ground, I just meant you can spread the line out so you have a long area of coverage. i do not know the rule on that either if you figure it out hit me up with a Private message letting me know the rules on that, and i will look into it myself.

Fearless units can't go to ground so a 11+ unit of lootas can't benefit from the 2+ Agis save.

I'm having my first game with Orks today and I'm testing a unit of 12.

How many Loota units should you have?

I'm pretty stuck for space in all my lists what with including a Dakkajet, 3 Battlebus Shoota Squads and Nob Bikers.

I used 'battle buses' in my last game and was really dissappointed...

As for the Lootas, units of 10 if you need them to go to ground (ie with an Aegis), otherwise I'd say 12 is a good number - you need to keep their numbers high enough for them to not need to take, or to take and pass, panic tests, because their leadership is super crap. With regards to the number of units, I'd say two is enough. Generally speaking at any play to win event you'll want two of everything, so they cannot just nuke one unit and totally remove all the anti-whatever that unit was for from your list.

I'm thinking of trying three of those 20 Ork squads and instead of the Biker Nobz, 2-3 units of Boyz in Trukks.

Send them in as one big brick so the enemy will be bamboozled by Orks, while the Lootas sit back and support.
