POLICE have ruled out bikie links to a shooting in Sydney's west in which four men were wounded.

The men, aged between 20 and 25, were gunned down outside the Smithfield residence on Friday.

Around 15 bullet holes were found in a garage door at the property.

Police and ambulance officers found the victims after responding to reports of a shooting at about 8pm.

The men have been taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries including gunshot wounds to the stomach and leg.

A number of Nomad bikies were seen in the area after the incident, according to Fairfax Radio Network.

Police say the men are known to them but they don't appear to have any links to bikie gangs.

Police say the men were known to them but didn't appear to have any links to bikie gangs.

"There's nothing to indicate that it's bikie-related," a police spokeswoman said on Saturday morning.

They say they believe the incident was a targeted attack.

Horsley Drive has been closed between Wetherill Street and Gibbs Street as PolAir and the DogUnit canvass the area for clues.

Is it really that hard to say "Biker"? Are "R"s rationed in Australia like Canada rations healthcare?

Over here, "biker" is used to refer to the rider of a donorcycle. (cf. Honda Riders' club, Kawa riders' club, etc)
"Bikie" is used to refer to the member of an Outlaw Motorcycle Club (OMC) who wear colours and tend to favour less-than-legal fund-raising exercises. (cf, Comancheros, Nomads, Gypsy Jokers, etc)

Pretty much this. We use a lot of words in a lot of weird ways.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

edit: I was meaning that in the 'she's awesome' sense, she's probably technically a champ in her age division or something like that too

That's not a word though!

I like "Organ Donors" as a general term for motorcyclists and bikers for OMCs. That's just me though.

R's are rationed in Australia, Heathcare's rationed in Canada and Dental care is so rationed in the U.K. even the royals have to wait in line. Honestly it's a miracle you commonwealth type nations function at all.

It's as valid as "totes amazeballs". More valid, if you ask me.

Donorcycle is what EMTs call (ALL) motorcycles. Donor is what they call the riders (be they biker or bikie).
"Road hazard" is what MRCs (Manufacturer Rider Clubs) call Harley-Davidson riders of both stripes, also (as most of the local HD riders tend to take more risks on the road).

Really? It's the reverse here, Harleys are for OMCs or "reasonable" riders. While crotch rockets tend to go to the group of riders that actively seem to be competing for the "Most Impressive Way to be Splattered Across a Highway" award.

You just gave me a mental image of a bunch of well dressed, official looking people standing along the side of the highway holding those olympic score board things.

@KM: I think you mistook my intent there.
To the Emergency services, ALL motorcycles are donorcycles, it matters not who rides them.
HD riders tend to take more risks on country roads and die in Head-on incidents v trucks.
Crotch rocket riders tend to lose it on bends and either impale themselves on road hardware, or are cut to ribbons by the cheese slicers (cable barriers on the edge of ditches designed to slow cars down before they spear into the ditch). Either way, they both become parts.
The smart ones wear Draggin' wear, so road-rash becomes not as much of an issue. The not-smart ones become parts.

Only the ones who are total spankers and need to have a little more respect for other people. Non I have met do that. Alot are bikers themselfs (Go and look outside most fire stations, police stations and A&E depts in the UK and you will find a few bikes in the staff parking).

There would be alot less SMIDY accidents if people stopped thinking so little of bikes and thought a little more about them.

Even responsible drivers are at much greater risk. A coworker of mine was killed last year. He was stopped at an intersection waiting for a light. He got rammed by someone texting. Had he been in a car he most likely would have lived.
