Q: When firing an Exorcist launcher, what point on the weapon is considered to be the 'barrel' of the weapon for measuring purposes?
(p100)
A: Any of the pipes on the organ
I was called a cheater during my last match because this got brought up. My exorcist was in the back of the table and there was a rhino 6 inches in front of it. My argument was that I could fire my missiles because I had line of sight from the barrels. (my exorcist is a standard pipe organ model) my opponents argument was that I cant use my barrels and the FAQ only includes measuring, not LOS. That I had to use the woman driver for LOS. I showed him pg 72 of the rulebook about vehicles weapons and LOS. things started getting heated and I told him im done, packed up my models and found a different opponent. so in short
1) was I wrong about how an Exorcist works?
2) Wrong about how the FAQ works
3) I felt like I rushed out of a game, but 2 hours to get to turn 2 after dealing with crap till that point?

Anyone who plays the non-FW model for the Exorcist RAW is going to have problems.
Since the weapon is hull-mounted, you are allowed a firing arc of 45 degrees, straight up since you sight along the barrel of the weapon (the organ pipes).
For measurement purposes, you use the weapon not the lass playing the piano.
In future, talk to your opponent before hand to see just how strict-RAW they want to be. If necessary find a new opponent before wasting time.

If you proved your point by the FAQ and interpretation of the way you're supposed to play it by that means, then no, you're not at all wrong. If someone wants to argue with you about that, then yeah, don't waste your time with him. X list him and move on to someone else who's a little less grumpy

This guy has always been a thorn in my side when i play at the flgs. I dont put up with his crap, fake accent, or red face yelling. Good part is others have started standing up for themselves against him. bad part is he is still a horrible guy to deal with. Thanks again Dakka for setting my mind at ease

Dunno about all that since that would mean it has a 45 degree angle STRAIGHT UP. It has a full arc since those pipes can see everywhere. And you measure and determine LOS fro the pipes (weapon) like you do every other tank gun.

You measure along the barrel for vehicle weapons. So along the pipe organ barrel is...
It only makes sense, however, to play as not along the pipes.

Technically if you look at the model, the missiles are actually launched from ports just below the organ tubes, not from the organ tubes themselves. I have three of the suckers.
So basically, if you went from there, you couldn't see anything but the loader dude and the organ player.
Such a derpy model for firing purposes. No one gives me flak for the 180 degree fire arc I use and shots from the gun. Someone did complain once that wouldn't LOS come from the player?
I then asked, does your Tau Hammerhead shoot from the railgun or the little commander upgrade you bought? (Like all vehicles, it's the gun).
He went yea, that makes sense and the game resumed.

I don't think you could be more inaccurate. The three ports you're looking at are loading ports and not firing barrels. The servitor moves the rocket from the horizontal rack, and spins and places it in one of the three loading ports, then they are fired out of any of the organ pipes as per the gw faq.
As far as line of sight, it's a 360 degree arc from any organ pipe. The central tallest pipe can fire at anything in front of the vehicle as long as it is 3" away. The two shorter side pipes can get a clear shot on anything 1" away from the sides and farther. And the tallest pipe can get an angle on everything behind the vehicle .5" and more.
RAW you have to assume direct line of sight in a straight line from the tips of the organ pipes, the tallest being 4.5" from the ground and able to see over almost anything, and fluff-wise it lobs missiles in a rainbow arc to hit anything in any direction.

No, RAW you have to assume line of sight drawn from the mounting point down the length of the organ pipes which are said to be the barrel of the weapon.
And personally I would dislike an opponent trying to treat a hull mounted weapon, even one generally pointing upwards, as a 360 degree turret, although I probably wouldn't kick up a stink about it or anything.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
