Space Marines (from memory).

2x10 assault marines w/ a missle launcher
1 unit on foot and one in a Drop Pod

5 assault Termies with Hammers and Librarian in a
Landraider twinlinked lascannon and other stuff

Sorry no pics but i will do my best

Dawn of war deployment Mission: emperor's will
For simplicity and time sake we agreed we'd just use the board from the previous game

Space Marines go 1st landraider
deploys as forward as possible midfield and 1 squad of marines take cover to the north east behind small ruins but fairly close to center objectives

Tau deploy snipers to extreme southwest behind large ruins. Commander and squad deploy in south central large ruins along with FW in the ruins and other FW to left of them.

Tau fail to seize.

Marines t1
Drop pod drops smack in between the sniper drones and the now exposed fire warriors. and fire at he commanders squad. LR moves up and other marine squadstays put and shoots a missile with all resulting in 1 wound going to a crisis suit and 2 dead marker drones a couple dead FWs in the ruins. no assaults, no failed morale.

Tau t1
Combined fire from snipers, Ethereal boosted FW shots, and commanders high strength low ap , results in liquidated marines. Drop pod survives. Fire warriors think about assaulting but realize that their EMP 'nades are left at home.

Tau gain First Blood and 'Rines gain line breaker

1-1 VP

Marines t2
LR takes it slow as to bring more weapons to bear and crosses mid field but with cover saves not much of note happens

Tau t2
Commander pops out strips 1 wound off the LR
And sniper drones with nothing better to do fire at the drop pod but nothing happens. the full squad of fire warriors move away from the ruins but behind cover to spread out (although closer to the LR)

1-1 VP

Marines t3
LR unleashes the terminators and Librarian. Librarian forgoes shooting but uses a psychic attack on exposed FW squad. TAU DENY THE WITCH! Tau are the mercilessly killed in CC for not dying sooner. remaining 3 FWs start to run off the board.

Tau t3
Crisis team #2 arrives via deepstrike within 8 inches of the LR and with combined fire with the commanders squad wreck the raider. Snipers pop back out of cover and with the ethereal's power, shoot 3 sniper shots per model and kill 3 termies and put 1 wound on the Lib. squad of FW hiding in ruins put 1 more wound on the Lib (Warlord is Slain!) Commander get the heck out of dodge away from the Terminators and heads straight east for cover while 2nd crisis squad moves north and spreads out for the incoming missile attack.

Marines t4
Incoming fire from the full marine squad causes the recently deepstriking crisis suits to run off the board (so much for spreading them out). Remaining Terminator cant get into base contact through the ruins so he must go around but fails to get into assault. with the FWs.

Tau t4

Oh crap....this is an objective based game isnt it? Marines are perfectly positioned to steal the central objective next turn and win next turn and I'm back here playing hide and seek with terminators. Commander's squad is down to 2 crisis suits and a marker drone and cant kill anything with 2 plasma rifles and the sniper drones cause a couple kills (maybe 2). Fire warriors jump out of the ruins to try and grab their own objective before they're caught by the last of the terminators.

2 tau-1 'rines VP

Marines t5

the marines grab the central objective after running. and the terminator rolls low and cannot connect with the FWs

Tau t5

Combination of FW, Snipers and Commander squad reduce the marines enough to take a morale check and start to run, regroup and consolidate back on the objective.

2 tau - 4 'rines VP

Rolling to see if the game ends here will ultimately decide the game. there is no way to stop the tau from contesting the objective and/or wiping them completely off of it next round with just 3 marines.

The game continues. And the greater good prevails!

Long story short, Terminator thunder hammers some firewarrios, and the crisis commander scours the objective.

Final score Tau 2 (First blood, slay warloard)- Marines 1 (line breaker)

Even with hot dice and great shooting I really got lucky after disregarding the objectives until it was almost too late.

This was my first game with new Tau and 6th edition. So hopefully we didn't botch something too game breaking

Your basic Arachnid warrior isn't too smart, but you can blow off a limb, and it's still 86 percent combat effective. Here's a tip: Aim for the nerve stem, and put it down for good.

Interesting list indeed, nice work on the rep and score one for the greater good!

Im curious of why you took the bonding knife ritual on the suits. You only have four models in the unit, so they cant fall below 25%, hence making the ritual a waste of points...

I thought that because they have 2 wounds a piece ( 4 on the commander) they could still have issues

Nice job with the tau!
One note, the marines need to be alive at the end of the game for line breaker I believe so your opponent wouldn't have gotten in.

Doesn't the amount of drones count towards the #per unit? If i didnt make it clear in the list each suit brought a drone with them. Still that only leaves 1 model left but what the heck it was only 3 points
