Pred may seem random, but didn't know how to spend the last 185 points, and all the elite slots were used...Anyway, does this strategy just go way too deep? I think it could give new Tau, or any really shooty army fits. All 30 assault marines have furious charge and feel no pain, the first 20 will have +d3 attacks and preferred enemy each assault from the librarians. 14 Infernus Pistols, 2 Furiosos w/ Grapples, and a Las Pred should be plenty to handle AV 14 I think. Doesn't sport any plasma, but I do avoid get hot, and the 14 Infernus Pistols will insta-kill terminators also.

Well.... ASMs aren't as great as they used to be....

Shooty is the way to go for BA now. Your list can be torn apart by the new Tau. Believe me, 12 FWs doesn't look like much, by they can destroy 10 marines a turn easily.

Truthfully, the Furioisos would be better with Frag..... Even then most armies can just gib it with a Lascannon or Meltagun.

Also, don't bring 2 HQs. BA HQs are a sad joke compared to what they used to be. Only bring the single mandatory one.

Drop the pred, the dreads, the second Libby, and get more bodies.

I know that 6th edition is about being shooty, and armies like Tau, Necrons and IG excel at that. It used to be that CC armies were a good counter to shooty armies that couldn't win once engaged in CC - armies like BA, SW etc. But now people say that BA and SW need to be played as shooty armies to be competitive in 6th. But, if you're going to play a shooty army, why not just play Tau, Necrons or IG, rather than trying to play a CC army as shooty?

I really doubt it. Even if you give them BS2 from markerlights and put the assault marines in rapid fire range, that's 20 hits, 13-14 wounds, 4-5 kills. And that's with everything going in the Tau's favor. Plus FNP from the Priest, that will save a Marine or two.

I do agree you need more bodies, though. Your guys are going to take a beating as they jump across the battlefield.

That's only one unit. You're forgetting about all their friends next to them.

@ OP: BA are not a PURE HTH army. It's like how people thought nids were until they remembered how great devourers were.

Angels can put a rediculous amount of bullets on the table.

Yes... buy more marines as the tanks you've all bought, and the many many varieties of dread we sold you... they're all useless!

Buy and play what you feel is best for you to enjoy your lists dude... I'm starting a Flesh tearers army now and I don't intend to make them a shooty army just because thats the way people think the game HAS to be played now. I'll be fielding small assault units with a core Terminator unit, because it fits the limited numbers, close combat nature of the FT's.

Ok, :

1. The Captain: He is mediocre in assault and he's expensive. 155(Can't remember off the top of my head) can get you an ASM squad w/ 2 Infernus on the Sgt and a melta + Plus other goodies somewhere else, like PF on all the ASM Sgts.

2. The dreads won't do much if you opponent focuses on them. Remember Talons are only AP3.

3. Infernus pistols aren't great... The only have 6" range, and by the time you get there, you probably wont have that many left. Go meltas on the ASM. You lose 2 attacks for the squad, but you at least have range on something. For the SP, use combimeltas for the same reasons.

I'd reevaluate using magna grapples, as a dread with blood talons is going to have issues damaging anything other than light vehicles, whereas the magna grapple's point is to bring those into range.

also remember, when you're thinking Tau, you're not going to have as many attacks as you think, as those defensive grenades are going to negate the bonus attacks you get for charging IIRC.

For one you only actually need 1 HQ. I would drop the captain all together and grab yourself a pred etc. The libby looks good always a solid choice in this type of list but I would drop the infernus pistol, and consider taking divination. It's pretty good.

No infernus pistols, stick with meltas they're cheaper and better. And not on the sergeant either... Drop one priest, you only need 2 for 4 squads (send them up in pairs or one alone and three together), they'll survive well enough.

You do want to be careful with these, they can die quickly to first turn shooting. I would also consider giving them flamers or meltas, they may as well do some damage before they drop.

I would seriously consider using some of those extra points for some preds - baals and normal. They add some much needed firepower, and TBH fit in with the rest of your list better than the fragiosos do.

Right now speed is our greatest ally, especially when you consider we are still tough good in combat and can dish out lots of shots. If you keep your army mobile (RAS, Preds, etc.) then it works out a lot better. Our shooting is good, and our combat is decent, but speed is the most important. Mobility. With that in mind I would seriously consider the limited mobility of the pods for some preds with heavy fire power, or even a vindicator.
