With the release of the new Tau, I have decided to resurrect my brother's Tau. I hope to gradually practice and experiment with more conversions, really try and make them unique. I might also come up with some background for them as well.

This the old look

And here's the new look

Spoiler:

More work to come soon.

Also nice!

After looking up some Tau conversions I decided to go with the compacted jetpack. I like how it streamlines the model a little better. For the first model, I put two missile packs on the back; I figure I could count it twin-linked or just count it as one, long pack, like Stalin's organ.

Here's the paint job so far. I'm think of arming him with a fusion blaster and a shield, something anti-tank.

My sister has also tried her hand at painting as well. this is what she has.

Dam. I've never thought about slimming down the jetpack. Does it improve the contact between the two sides so they don't leave a gaping hole that you need to greenstuff out?

The lower back I needed to cover with plasticard, but there's enough contact on the upper back.

I've finished my first crisis suit. I'm not happy with how the pose turned out, but I think it's alright.

I'm loving those colors. And the blue on the inside of the fusion blaster looks beyond sexy.

I just gota steal the fusion blaster blue effect you did there. It's even easy enough for me to do!

Here's the second crisis suit. This ones going to be the shas'vre and is suited for taking out infantry. I figure I'll have two for anti-vehicle and this mops up anyone who drops out.

The slimmed down jet pack really does the model justice, but the shoulders are lacking greatly. I suggest you beef them up. To the point even where you could mount items on them, and keep the jet system in the middle with them.

Simply put dont build the shoulders out, the suit is wide enough, but build them up into flat panels. You can then mount all kinds of missiles on them, and or round them off for just a thicker protected armor look.

Look at the attached image for a more in depth example. Love the theme, and work well done.

There is a ton expansion you can do with these shoulders that will all complement the unit and paint job. Dont let my bad paint make your decision.

I've made two marker drones for my commander with a drone controller, add some extra markerlights. The second crisis suit is almost done, I'll have pictures of that soon.

I've also finished my second model. I cut the legs so that it's in more of a crouching position.

My Forgeworld finally arrived! This is for my DIY space marine chapter. I'll have pictures of that later.

So, a quick break from Tau, I'm finishing up these terminators. I've finally decided on a symbol. I have terrible free hand skills, so I picked a symbol I could modify a little. That brought me to the idea that could use the imperial fists symbol, but holding a key as well.

Finished the first terminator. I decided to try and make the hammer head look like it was heated.

I've finished my second terminator. Turns out, making keys small enough to fit in a fist emblem is difficult, so the key has one tooth instead of two. I also designed the mace look like a furnace is glowing on the inside.

Thanks for the compliments. I've finally finished the terminators. Hopefully I can get back to my Tau soon.

Next project is a display board for "Armies on Parade". I want to do one for my Tau, but I don't have enough units to make a coherent look. That leaves my Stone Sentinels. First I'll finish my Tau suits and then move onto my board.

So, I entered my space marines into armies on parade at my LGS. I came in fourth place, so no medal for me.

Now I can get back to my Tau. I should have a fireblade commander finished soon.

Those marines look awesome, same goes for the Tau too.

You've made what sounds like a very bleak colourscheme work exceptionally well, very memorable and striking.

I think I've come up with a technique for my Tau faces. Lacking a good blue colour, I decided to do something more creative. I've given it a grey basecoat, washed with a blue, then drybrushed a grey again. It's not as blue as hoped i would be, but I could always say he's just really old. Do you think it's blue enough?

For my third suit I tried to make a pose that looks it's just landed from a jump. Unfortunately I didn't bend the knees enough and instead looks like he's ready to let one rip.

Ah yes, the stereotypical Crisis Fart Suit. Very dangerous in close quarters.

Oh, btw. I really like your Space Marine action shots. They look great. The terminators especially came out cool.

I accidentally dropped one of the battlesuits and it fell to pieces. So I took my lemons and made lemonades. I cut up the burst cannon and modified it a bit, try and make something more unique.

What a great modification! Simple yet very effective. I think it looks cooler that way.
